Go to Boots and get an insole for this complaint. Not cheap but Mr R had this and he says the relief using one of those insoles was amazing.
Hi Jillius
I have had this problem for 18 months now. I have tried the insoles but to be honest they don't do me a lot of good - you may find them helpful however. I had an off-the-record chat with a podiatrist a while back and she advised some stretching exercises which do help, use an ice pack and raise the foot as much as possible. She also suggested that I ask my GP for a formal referral to the podiatry clinic. I haven't done this yet but some evenings I sit here and I get excruciating pain in my foot - I really must do something about it. Maybe you should try your GP too.
yes i had one when i was younger, ended up having to have an op to shave heel bone down, you have my sympathy they are soooo painful :-( my doctor gave me some cream that helped a bit, i think it was cortisone based but was long time ago so might be remembering wrong but im sure your doctor will know what im on about.hope you get it sorted out as quick as possible i know what its like x
This is associated with plantar fascitis which involves the tendon that runs under the foot and up the legs. It is very painful as you say.

A solution I have found is to use those elasticated ankle protectors you can buy in Boots for about a fiver. These support the tendon and do relieve the pain.

Thanks all. I have got some insoles but they don't really work that well. The pain is still really bad.
I think I will have to go and see the doctor :-(
My husband had the same problem over the last two years .Tried all types of different insoles from chemist, and had them specially made. All to no avail. Consulted his surgeon who is also treating him for knee problems and his only suggestions was an op which would only be 50/50 chance of improving it .or ultra sound treatment. Took the option of ultra sound as it would be non invasive (but he did not have a lot of faith it would work).
Now I would estimate that he is 98% better and we are able to go out and about again.
If you get the chance give it a try. Nothing to loose

Ooooh, that's raised my spirits halcyon. How does it work ?
Instrument radiographer used looked very much like a pregnant lady has on her tummy when she has a scan.
I think the theory is something about breaking doen the tissue around the spur with the scan waves and tissue reforming to make a cushion on the bone. I am not very medical so may have got a bit mixed up.
He went for the treatment 3 times a week for 3 weeks then twice a week for another two weeks and then once a week for another 2 weeks.
He could not believe what a difference this has made and all without any pain or faith. Just goes to show.
I think if you go to your GP you will have to be insistant as they sometimes just want to fob you off.

That's brilliant. I will make an appointment next week. I didn't like the thought of an operation, that's why I've dragged my heels ( no pun intended lol !! ) for so long but if it's painless and doesn't involve cutting then it's worth going for.
Thanks again
Good Luck. Tell me how you get on.
