Weight Gain

Hi Out there...feeling a bit down. Today was my weekly weigh in and have again put on 1 lb. making it a total of 6 pounds in a couple of months. I have doing Rosemary Connely since last Sept and managed to loose 10 kilos.
My doctor had given me pills to help keep my hunger down ( I didn't think they did) but now they have been taken off the market. (can't remember their name)
I am eating the same and exercising every day (am 70 yrs old) so I just wanted some support really. I shall keep on of course but it is so annoying to see numbers going the wrong way.

Xstitcher, they were taken off the market as new research suggested users could suffer Strokes or Heart Failure. Silly really as I think the benefits far outweighed the side effects. No one with Heart problems or High Blood pressure would have been put on them in the first place. I lost 20 pounds in 3 months on them, but it's better really to lose weight through sensible eating and regular exercise, but I do understand how hard it is. I've been struggling to lose 2 stones since I had my baby over a year ago. I'm a Personal Trainer, but I just can't stop eating.
That's what I find Debsly. When I have a couple of outings at lunchtime I think I am going to gain. but I don't in fact I lose that week.So I continue having a treat as it certainly helps. I have given myself a target of another stone before my birthday end of Oct.anything else after that will be a bonus and will keep in check.
Hi xstitcher.
I'm new on here and so have only just seen this thread. Can't read 224 posts though!
However, just thought I would share my experience.
I have lost 3 stone over the past 18 months. Unfortunately during June/July/August I too started to put some weight back on or stayed the same for weeks.
The last two weeks though, I've started losing weight again. Yaaaay!
I've done nothing different, I'm just assuming my body knows what it's doing and decided that I needed to level off and stay the same for a while.
Good luck to you though.

Hi Hippie and welcome - things have been slightly manic at home the past few days and I forgot to weigh myself on wednesday, so will do it tomorrow (sat) morning instead. I hope that there will be something to show - I've had a lousy cold for the past few days, and don't feel hungry at all! (but I feel as if I could sleep for Britain!) so hopefully this will show in the weight loss. Well done everyone, it all sounds good so let's just keep going, onward and downward!
Hello Everybody, I leave first tomorrow but things are a bit manic here. 99% of getting the house ready for our long absence has to be done on the last day. Welcome to you hippie. It's so good to see that we can still attract new members. I hope you are all behaving yourselves.....almost and the next time you hear from me will be from southern Europe. I am so lucky that an Overseas/Iceland store has opened in my area which enables me to get some low fat products that weren't available until then. The low fat idea has been very slow to arrive in Spain or at least in my area but is getting better all the time and the chickens there are to die for.
Onwards and downwards my friends :-))

Good morning everybody.
Hope you have a good journey today, xstitcher. Sure you'll be back on here soon.
I'm going to be away too for a few days.Nowhere exotic but my husband and are going for a wee break to York. One of my favourite cities so really looking forward to it.
Breakfast and dinner are included in hotel so will need to do lots of walking round shops so I can make the most of that lovely food.
Good luck to you all for wednesday, girls. Hope we get the same great results as this week. I'll be back along the following week.
See you all soon. Onwards and downwards! : )

I am astonished by comments that at 70 people should not be bothered how they look. Youngsters don't realize that older people still feel exactly the same inside but just look older. Believe you me, although I am not 70 I know many who are and they still take as much pride in their appearance as they ever did.Dont forget hopefully one day we will all reach 70 and then maybe understand what this is all about.
In xstitchers absence for a few days I thank you for your comments. I replied to xstitchers thread for a start as I was same age group .As you get older it does get a litle more difficult to keep the weight off. I am 72 and I still take a pride in my appearance but it is so easy to let yourself go as I have seen with some people.
Having seen xstitcher's original post, I've finally stopped shilly shallying around and done something about losing some weight too.
I've fought a tendency to gain over the years - bad knees and a dodgy hip have all contributed, also the medication I've been taking since 2001 has not helped at all, however when I turned 60 five years ago, I gave myself a birthday present and went to one of the more successful weight-loss groups here in Aust - namely Sure Slim.
Quite expensive, but after a blood test, etc I started their diet with the 'guarantee' that if I stuck to their eating plan, I would lose weight without exercise. And I did, no two ways about it, over 20 months I lost just under 40kg with very little input from me.
Unfortunately that group has now gone the way of many others, but my daughter gave me a book on the CSIRO eating plan which has been very beneficial to lots of people but now I must get down to the guts of it all - I have no willpower and found that negativity from others has not helped in the following years, to the point where I've gained almost all I'd lost and am pretty disgusted with self !!
Right, nuff self-pity - have read the book and started the diet as of last Monday - have found it quite easy and although I have no scales as yet [ there's a sale on, starts Wednesday and my oh is going shopping for me ] so by the middle of the week am hoping to add my two-pennorth worth to the group of successful ladies I've been reading about already

Hello Seekeerz.I am sure XSTITCHER will be very interested in your post when she gets settled and back to us . I cannot comment on how to lose weight when on medication as I am fortunate so far and don't have to take any. But I have gone through all the process years ago at WEIGHTWATCHERS and Weightcare which I took on the job of secetary there to keep going when I reached my gaol but that was quite a few years ago. It does work but you have to still keep at it when you get to your gaol weight. This is where people stray and it could be for different reasons which they can't help such as family worrys ect.You don't need to go on these strict strict boring diets you read about . Most are money making schemes.Vary your diet eat healthy and have the odd treat. It is difficult when you get a bit older but it can be done.Mine crept on over the years after I stopped smoking but as you have read I have set myself a gaol and it's working fine .Just a 1lb and 2 lbs each week. See you Wednesday and

Hello all you lovely people and greetings from Spain,
It's lovely to see that there are still new souls logging on to our little group.....who would have thought that a moan from the heart could turn out to be such a positive thing.
Today I am all aches and pains and have promised myself to get handbaggage on wheels. The trip down was awful because of two drunken middleaged man and woman sitting right in front of us who made the whole journey a nightmare for all sitting near them. The crew did their best but apart from gagging them etc nothing would keep them subdued. It looked to be a bender of many days.
Now I shall go down to my local grocery shop to stock up on food. It is so warm here that at the moment I am not even hungry.
Onwards and downwards ladies........
