Does really short hair on a young woman look wierd if it's curly? ie a curly bob? Are there any other short styles possible?
My hair is quite curly and would probably be very if it was cut short enough to have it down at cadets.
But if you don't have it short enough to have down, you have to have all the layers long enough to fit into a bun, which doesn't leave a huge amount of options.
PS to have it down for cadets, it can't be longer than to the bottom of the colour on our fours shirt, which is the same shape/ style as a normal shirt. . . . .
I think short hair depends on more than just your hair type, things like face shape come into play as well as to what will suit you.
I have naturally wavy hair which goes quite curly if damp. I've had it right down to the bottom of my back to really cropped short and variations inbetween.
My hair is quite fine though so easy to dry etc... I also won't leave the house in the morning without having a shower and washing my hair so I have to dry and style every morning.
I find layers make my hair misbehave and a lot harder to style with it being wavy. It lies a lot neater when all the same length.
Be careful if you have it styled short as it can take a lot more attention if you then grow it out to keep it styled properly so it does'nt look like it's a style being grown out. I also find it can make your roots more obvious as dye grows out.
I had a graded bob (longer at the front and graded up at the back) done a while back which was lovely, right down past my shoulders now. I always straighten mine though minimally, just got into the habit but it's not great for your hair if you end up hammering it into a style daily because you have to for it to look decent.
Similar if you need lots of product and styling to get your curls nice.
I have done some product testing for Charles Worthington and his assistant and they have showed me a couple of times how they get great volume in my hair and said how I should wear my natural curls, they make it look so easy! I just end up resorting back to my straighteners :)
I had a curly bob in my late teens - early twenties. My hair is naturally curly and my GHDs are the best expensive beauty product I have ever purchased. I hate my curls.
Ancerprancer, not that short and LOL at your last post on the first page.
Umm I see what you mean, but would that look ok curly?
I hate straightening my hair, it takes too long and it doesn't really suit me.
Karen, it would probably look like that, but a lighter colour, or does that look to much like an old lady cut? I want something suiting a teenager and girly, so i don't look like a man!
I think that's quite an 'old' style for a 17 year old Molly. I think you have to have quite a slim face to pull that off too - although of course I have no idea what your face looks like.
I think face shape is important, when I had really short hair I was a lot slimmer (and younger) than I am now and more of an elvin face shape so it suited. Now I've got a bit more weight on it just wouldn't suit me now.
Molly the neat thing about hair is that it grows again. Save up you cash, find an excellent hairdresser, if you aren't sure about yours, go and have a good chat with them...if they won't chat then they aren't excellent, and give it a go. I used to work with a girl who was built like a model, very tall and great bones. She had very very curly hair which she kept cropped to about an inch or less all over. so it laid over her head in crescents, not complete rings and it looked fab. she used to just get out of bed or the shower and finger comb it into place.
