Hello all,

I heard the other day that fat-free salad dressing is one of the biggest "No No's" you can eat, mainly because of all the extra stuff they put in to replace the fat!

So as we are almost heading into salad season (even if the weather doesn't quite agree yet) how about some low calorie salad dressing recipies or even some interesting salads that might not need dressing?

We welcome anyone serious about losing weight and we offer support and kind thoughts - not magic fixes, just sensible help.

Simple answer OG just cut down on the bread lol
Not really an option. One either cuts it out altogether, or gets through a loaf a week. Can't see it being the former.

I was looking on the Net for electric bread slicers on the Net earlier in the hope I could consistently cut slices as thin as commercially sliced. But although some had some good reviews they all had reviews from folk who said there were issues; so I may have given up on that thought.

I may compare flour brands tomorrow, see if any are markedly lower than others.
Could you get a smaller loaf tin OG? We have an electric bred slicer from Lidl, very cheap but very effective.
I think bread makers tend to come with a single 'tin' Ratter. Worst comes to worse, I've been undercounting it all the time so far so I can lose weight without changing anything, but now I know I've been too optimistic I'm more wary. Thanks for the webpage. I've a lot to do today but hope I've time today or tomorrow to pop into the supermarket and see if there is any difference between brands. Maybe something like less wheat more something else would help.

Soy flour, Wendilla? I'm not sure you could bake with that - it's basically ground up soybeans, as far as I'm aware. Breadmaking flour is made of wheat, or some other cereal such as Rye etc. I can't (on fairly quick inspection) find any references to gluten.
I stand corrected, Wendilla - but soyflour seems to be used for gluten free bread. That's a whole other field I know nothing about, sorry
Despite others' scepticism, I have just sent for the 2-day diet book. I know it won't beat staying forever on a sensible diet, but I'd like to see what it says - those who've tried it say it works. I'm tired of staying on the same plateau of weight!

Go for it Boxy, best of luck, it must be really frustrating being stuck, my weight loss has slowed down a bit but it is still going down. I must admit to not being as strict as I used to be, I dont need to be as strict now really, im still losing just more slowly so that is probably better in the long run.
I've lost 21lbs since january 19th -3 long months. I had a plateau for about 4 weeks but worked through it and am losing about 1/2-1lbs a week now -its slow going but I guess the scales are going the right way but I have another stone to lose and the thought of another 14 weeks of dieting is daunting. Over easter I let loose a bit -no choccie eggs but bigger portions and some dessert -and when I got back on the scales I had lost 2lbs - last week I had a hectic week lambing - was never off my feet and ate very healthily -and only lost 1/2 lb how does this work? Am I perhaps not eating enough and my body has gone into starvation mode? -I'm not following a 'diet' as such -just portion control and avoiding starchy veg, sugar and fat, and taking in between 1250 - 1500 calories -though I have a very active lifestyle.
Hi Magsmay yes it is possible NOT to lose weight if you don't eat enough. Just think what you have achieved and the next stone should be on it's way out. I stuck for ages and stayed the same but I put it down to the long spell of cold weather and as you get older you can't skimp on your meals in the cold weather.
Boxtops I read on another thread about this 2 day diet .I don't know what to say about it but I certainly would not do it long term. Worth a try just for a few weeks.
wendilla -thankyou for your encouragement - yes -age is against me -in years gone by I could of lost this amount of weight in 6 weeks - I will persevere though -only 3 more lbs and I'll be into the top of my 'ideal' weight range ;-)
Im hoping I will break into the 12+ stone and goodbye to the 13+ by Wednesday, we will see!

Been trying to do that for months and months. It is now pretending to be on it's way up AGAIN. It has 2 days to start being honest before the next weigh in here.
No change for me this week and I can't seem to get moving again. Although I have lost 3 stone, I still have a long way to go, so any suggestions to help me restart would be very welcome.

I didn't post last week because i was busy looking after a poorly OH. I have had a stressful time of it over the last couple of weeks, but not shifting a pound or two each week is not helping. I'm in between sizes at the moment and wanted to be buying a few new spring/summer clothes by now in the lower size!

Its possible that my body has got used to my menu again and I need to have a change around. I probably do know what to do, just feeling blue.
