Onwards and Downwards Continues in June 2013

Hello all,

Sick of talking about the weather so as per a brilliant suggestion from xstitcher, what is your favourite slimming salad to eat in the summer (or any time of year).

Let's see who can put the most interesting ingredients together that are still low calory.

We welcome anyone serious about losing weight and we offer support and kind thoughts - not magic fixes, just sensible help.

Don't forget your weekly weigh on Wednesday and remember we don't judge!

A pasta, prawn and celery avocado salad. use a large bowl add a good drizzle of olive oil, lemon juice freshly ground black pepper and sea salt. cube the avocado and add to the bowl, the lemon juice helps stop the avocado going brown and also makes a nice dressing, give it a stir to coat then add the chopped celery and stir again. boil some pasta, i use fusilli...

They don't have to be consecutive days, so I think I might manage it!
Worth a try but as I say not for me.
I'll back you up there Wendilla. It doesn't sound sensible and although I imagine you could loose quickly it would be one of those diets where you would be putting back your loss quickly also. It doesn't promote healthy eating habits which is what we are all about.
I know - but my work pattern at the moment is such that I tend to eat too many sandwich lunches, etc. Nowhere to heat food at some of the places I work, I carry enough about with me already without having to think about carrying food all day as well.
I can understand your position workwise but could you not just put a chicken drumstick or any chicken in with salad rather that bread sandwiches as you may have already had toast at breakfast. In Tescos you can get what is called french toast .They come in little packs in a box about £1 20.. I have 2 pieces of these with a boiled egg rather than do toast as you don't need anything on it. I have looked other supermarkets but only Tesco have them and they are nice.
I will post a pic of them for you in a few mins

Sorry not got the box so that they would be easy to spot on the shelf but they are amongst the biscuits more with the cream crackers at the end of all the choc ones.
Thanks Wendilla, that's quite an idea. I'll look out for those. I never thought of taking a hard-boiled egg - I have often fretted about taking to work things like chicken or fish, as it can get quite hot in our office and I don't want them to go off!
I have seen my hairdresser in Spain eating a pasta salad she has made from a little plastic lunch box. You could choose food items that wouldn't "go off" like tomatoes, peppers, onions, cole slaw made with total....a trip around your veg counter at your supermarket should give inspiration....or bring a small tin of tuna.....
I found a natty little box in the supermarket, even includes a spoon - I took a beetroot salad in the bottom half today, and low cal sauce in the top section. Mind you, I'm ravenous now...
Sounds like you are going in the right direction boxtops.
We've just had salmon and trout, with salad and couscous. That's filled me up!
Good Morning All,

Last Sunday we were invited to a private lunch which lasted from 1 o'clock to 7 o'clock and puts me on the naughty step with a fearsome gain of 2 pounds. It has to be that lunch because otherwise I have been good boardering on boring.
Better luck to the rest of you. I don't know why I use the word luck because it is all down to hard work really.
Losing Weight is not all about salads.I have lost over a stone,my hubby has lost over 2 stone and a half,my son,2 stone and we did not just eat salads.
You are new here Fredkins or else you would realize that of course we don't just eat salads. How boring would that be. We try and stick to healthy lo fat and lo calorie meals but seeing as we are entering the summer season we are talking about different types of salads. In the winter it might be soups or different ways of preparing chicken or fish. I hope this has helped clear up your wrong perception of us.
Good Morning Fredkins and yes I agree with you . We do encourage our members to eat plenty of chicken and veg. We just try and help one another with different ideas. Are you going to be joining us each week with your weight loss. Well done on what you and your family have achieved.
I am surprised I have not gained this week I have stayed the same again but I had lunch out yesterday so now have to watch it .
Have you a fisherman in the family boxtops....that sounds like a delicious meal.
After a ridiculous week of readings, down then up then down again the scales are finally claiming I've gone up, yes unbelievable I know but I reiterate up, ¾ lbs. {sigh]]
OG you can join Xstitcher on the naughty step and discuss how you are going to get off it for next wednesday.
