Onwards and Downwards Continues in June 2013

Hello all,

Sick of talking about the weather so as per a brilliant suggestion from xstitcher, what is your favourite slimming salad to eat in the summer (or any time of year).

Let's see who can put the most interesting ingredients together that are still low calory.

We welcome anyone serious about losing weight and we offer support and kind thoughts - not magic fixes, just sensible help.

Don't forget your weekly weigh on Wednesday and remember we don't judge!

A pasta, prawn and celery avocado salad. use a large bowl add a good drizzle of olive oil, lemon juice freshly ground black pepper and sea salt. cube the avocado and add to the bowl, the lemon juice helps stop the avocado going brown and also makes a nice dressing, give it a stir to coat then add the chopped celery and stir again. boil some pasta, i use fusilli...

Hello everyone, when 0% total is mentioned as coleslaw dressing, is that the yogurt? Also how do you stop the apple going brown? Thank you

Welcome Jake. If I have to keep half an apple I usually wrap it in foil.
A few drops of lemon juice will keep apples etc from going brown.....
Thank you both - I'm going to have a go.
Good Morning All,
It's the naughty step for me. We had a BIG birthday for hubby with our family and not wishing to be rude etc. etc. etc. The day after we HAD to finish up the left over cake, try out the new BBQ and on and on goes the list of sins. The bottom line is a gain of 2 lbs. There WILL be an improvement next week or I shall shoot myself :-)
Happy Birthday to OH xstitcher. I'm pleased you had a good day and enjoyed the party. I'm sure we've all gained 2lb for much lesser occasions!

No change for me this week which is a bit disappointing as I've tried really hard. Maybe I'll see the benefit next week? Or maybe I need to move about a bit more? I have a sedentary job and have to make effort for exercise.

Morning. Sorry to hear x.

Down ¾lbs here, but the scales seem to go up and down daily like a demented yo-yo. Never know where they'll be stop Wednesday morning. Still, the right direction for once; lots to make up though.
Best of luck for next week then May
Good Morning all I think I must have been secretly eating from Xstitchers parties as I have gained just over 1lb so I am back on the naughty step.I have no excuses.
Maydup staying the same is disappointing sometimes especially when you know you have been good but you will see the benefit next week hopefully.

OG what can I say but well done that's nearly 1lb. You need to balance that Yo Yo a bit more.
My diet has gone a bit pear shaped the last couple of weeks and I have paid the price, I'm up about 1.5lb. We have been travelling around a lot and organising the move and packing and all a bit stressful so I'm really not sticking to any regime at the moment, I'm working on damage limitation at the moment.

I think once we are moved I will be a lot more busy doing physical work on the land etc. I think I will then get the diet going again properly.

So naughty step for me I think :-(
Thank you all for your kind words. Good for you OG. You got off the naughty step. I'll pass on your greetings maydup that was very kind of you. How nice of you to join me Wendilla.
Maydup you mentioned needing more moving about....so do I but I do hate it, unless I'm shopping, or what I mean really is having something to do when I am on my feet. Just walking for the sake of walking is something I don't enjoy no matter how pretty the scenery etc is.
Oh dear, the naughty step is filling up this week. When is the actual move taking place Ratter?
I wish I knew xstitcher, that's why we are getting a little stressed, It should be on the 5th July but we cant get confirmation, its a bit of a trickey move what with the bed-bound MIL and 23 chickens, 7 rabbits and four dogs, two big lorry loads of furniture! we are trying to organise MIL's care package for her care and all of her equipment but we cant even book a furniture removal lorry without a definite date. Grrrrr
Ratters I hope you get things sorted out soon. Stop worrying about weight loss at the moment. You will get through it then you can get back on track after you move. Just try not to over indulge. You have done it before you will do it again ,Good luck.
Wow you certainly have a lot on your plate at the moment and I don't meaning the plate with food. I hope you can get all the vans, dates, MIL, etc to fall into hack and then get on with the moving. You probably can't see the forrest for the trees at the moment.
No naughty step this week and after my two weeks off the diet and my gain I am pleased to say I have lost 7lb this week. Back on the downward slope again I hope.

Hope you get your move sorted soon Ratter.
That is a big loss for one week Jan. Are you looking after yourself properly? We don't want you starving yourself now do we....
Yes I was very surprised xstitcher but I am eating well. Just had quite a lot of vegetable stir frys with noodles which I love, and lots of fruit. Even went out for a curry last wednesday at my local pub. I think it was gaining 11lb which gave me the extra incentive.
Well done Jan you certainly came down to earth with a big bang after your 11lb gain but as Xstitcher said be careful . Do you go to SW or do you do it online. If you go to classes you must be there star pupil.
Thanks Wendilla. I don't go to SW group because of my mobility problems, just used my old books and then bought some new ones on ebay. My sister checks my weigh ins for me and I write everything I eat and drink down which I find helps keep me on the straight and narrow.
