Hello all,

Welcome to this month's Onwards & Downwards. We welcome anyone serious about losing weight and we offer support and kind thoughts - not magic fixes, just sensible help.

As Christmas is almost upon us I thought we could have some festive yet healthy cocktail suggestions. Here are but a few I have found:

Well done Jomlett, wendilla and Maydup. Have you noticed that it is a long time since we have had the naughty step out? This proves that we have successfully intergrated our new eating habits into our lives which is quite a feat! You should all be VERY proud of yourselves!!!

Poor you OG. That really is frustrating. Does your doctor have any books about good meals or what about your local chemist? I find their booklets or info on books good because they are neither faddish or hard to make....easy on the pocket book too.
Wend. is right..take it easy over Christmas, try to keep the portions down to a healthy size and hopefully when the first of Jan. rolls around you'll have your mojo back in place and the weight will start to go the right way.
I'm usually feeling "poor me" of late :-) Not actually looking for sympathy as such, but it's nice to moan occasionally as a mood enhancer ;-) Well it's either that or go out and buy a dozen fresh cream cakes.
No OG just buy one cream cake then you won't regret it .
The above is a really good guide for slimming foods.
But surely foods for women ?
Shirley not?!
Ditto Jomlett!
Not just women, but women from Itely no less ! Surprised it's not pasta & pizza ! But maybe those foods are taboo-la.
I'm still enjoying pasta that's made from corn, maize and/or rice/semolina with spicy sauces and i've finally reached 25 on the BMI. Can I keep a lo-carb crimbo to get below 25? Watch this space!
Congrats on the 25 BMI Jomlett. I can understand this is a mega happy number for you.
Thanks. By coincidence I had an unrelated appointment with my doctor today and telling him of my weight loss, he made me remove my shoes to prove it by stepping on the scales! He was most impressed! Talking about the Lo-Carb diet, he often recommends it.
Wow, well done, less than I am at present.

I'm off later today so won't be able to weigh myself at relatives', so this morning was the last reading for a while. Teasingly it shows the value which is the lowest of those I'm refusing to record as being infeasibly high. Still, if I remember that it'll be a mark to see how disastrous (or otherwise) the Xmas / New Year period is.
Have a good Christmas OG and a Happy New Year.
Have a good xmas OG and Maydup .
I wish everyone A Merry Xmas and a Happy New Year .
I know there will be gains . Don't worry about it. You have all done your best and know how to rectify it in the New Year.

Good morning all, I hereby declare the next two weigh ins nil and void, put a Christmas decoration on top of your scales and give them and yourselves a well earned holiday! Your key word is moderation.
MERRY CHRISTMAS AND A HAPPY NEW YEAR to all our slimmers and to you Auntie, thank you for breathing new life into our little circle.
Somebody will always be around if you have time to leave a thought or two.
I wish you all a good Christmas and I hope you all make it through unscathed by over indulgences !
So do I Janbee but I think that is wishful thinking lol.
Wishing happy christmas to all slimmers and also wishing I can at least remain at my latest low of 81.1...FAT chance! I was hoping to get below 25 on the BMI for new year, but with all the temptations coming up...it doesn't look likely! At least I can enjoy my lowest weight for several years.
