small baby
my daughter is 28 weeks and has just been to the midwife who said she ios only measuring 25 weeks, and she has protein in her water, the babys heartbeat is ok but the midwife said said she is to go back in 3 weeks instead of 6 and if she still isnt growing they may have to induce her early, she had a car accident 2 weeks ago and was taken to hospital and the baby only measured 25 weeks then as well, has anyone gone through the same? and should she have any backache to go straight to the hospital as this is due to the protein thanks

There is a bit of leyway with size as the baby can be lying differently when measured but they will always err on side of caution if there is any reason why baby may be small or large. In your daughters case, because baby may not have grown since the accident they are being ultra cautious.
The protein can be a sign of pre-eclampsia but also a sign of infection in the urine or discharge. If possible tell your daughter to always take a mid-stream sample where any discharge may have been washed away as such before the sample taken.
They have given your daughter the info based on the extreme ie baby not growing at a good rate, but im sure that if they had serious concerns then they would have advised to immediately go for a scan.
The backache may mean a concern of a UTI or kidney infection, not sure why they have told her to go straight to hospital though, but follow the advice theyve given,

Me, I had pre-eclampsia. I was similar to your daughter but was a little later in pregnancy when I developed it. Like Daffy I was so swollen I was almost unrecognisable. I carried to full term (despite being warned that I might not be able to), I had a couple of extra scans in the last few months. I gave birth to a 5lb 6 oz baby. His skin was a little baggy round the knees but other than that he was well and peachy.
It is a serious illness and she should report any signs to her midwife immediately.

hi i wouldnt worry to much about the size. i went in at 32 weeks for check up and they said i was measuring 28 weeks, then went back week later and they said the baby wasnt growing and was only about 3lb. i had a booked section at 37 weeks as they said he was too small. h then came out 7lb 6oz. his weight was fine but because they brought him out early his lungs hadnt fully developed so he was on life support for 3 weeks.
i believe if they left him full term he would have been born a good size and healthy.

Soetimes the high blood pressure doesn't become an issue until later in the pregnancy. The protein in the urine and small baby definitely point to pre-eclampsia though. My high blood pressure wasn't picked up until about 36 weeks and I was admitted to hospital at 38 weeks for complete bed rest. When I developed full eclampsia my blood pressure shot up to 220 over 160 and all hell broke loose.lol.It turned out I was in labour but didn't know it as i'd only had back pain.I was rushed to the labour suite where I was given an epidural to lower my blood pressure and I was observed constantly. My daughter was delivered by forceps around 7 hours later and I was then moved to intensive care until my blood pressure normalised. My daughter was small at 5lb 9 1/2oz but healthy.
I hope this isn't what your daughter has.x
