Is it an incorrect test
I took a first pregnancy test (just a shop brand) and it came back positive so just to make sure I went and got a more expensive one (clear blue) but this came back negative. They were both done on the same day. Could the first one just be a fluke being a cheaper brand as the more expensive one is likely to be accurate? Thanks.

I would do as notafish has suggested and do another one but first thing in the morning. I have found from personal expeireince that it doesnt have to be an expensive test. Cheap tests gave correct results for both my pregnancies.
Pregnancy tests measure the amount of the pregnancy hormone (HGC, I thnk it's called) in your urine. The cheaper one may be more sensitive than the more expensive one. Check the boxes and it will tell you how much hormone it detects. This is why you can get false negatives (if the test isn't sensitive enough - eg you test too early) but not false positives (if it finds the hormone, you're pregnant. End of.
Good luck - I hope you get the result you want.
