Hi, i have an 18 year old daughter i still pay child maintenance for as she is still in Full Time education, we are due to go on holiday next Thursday for just over 3 weeks, is it unreasonable for me to stop her payments as my daughter will be with me?

I'll be paying all her expenses whilst we're away so basically i'll be paying for her twice or is it more reasonable to pay a reduced sum for the 3 weeks she's with me.

I pay £65 a week, it's a mutual agreement and the CSA are not involved.
We hate the sight of each other so communication is a definite nono.

Granted her mum won't have bills for her food while she is away buti dunno where you live but here even renting a room in a house would cost more than £65 pw.
Good answer yogi, nicely put.
I'm just wondering if the people who say that £65 per week is "ridiculously low" know how much the OP earns? Maybe £65 is peanuts to some people and a lot of money to others.
He can afford a 3 week holiday...
He might be taking it in a tent for all you know.
which reminds me, you probably couldn't even get a tent pitch for £65 pw
Three weeks of food for two people minimum. Anyway, he has agreed this amount himself.
Thing is, the OP asked a question. He wasn't asking for judgement from people who know abolutely nothing about his circumstances.
*absolutely*
That's what we answered. You brought up affordability.
I agree 237sj, some of the replies here are beyond judgemental, at least one is plain nasty.
Hence my response Yogi.
If the op is struggling with paying £65 per week he could have payments reduced to £40 per week via CSA .
I mentioned affordability in the context that people have no idea of the OP's circumstances (financial or otherwise) before they tell him what a terrible person he is. No wonder this site is so quiet these days - I would think twice about asking anything if I was a new user.
At least he's paying £65 bet there's thousands who pay nothing
I bet winkyridg wishes he'd never asked this question.

He is just asking opinions on what is reasonable. People have answered and said why.
And calling someone mean spirited and small minded is answering the question?
Utilities will be based on what two people use. They don't go down when someone is away for 3 weeks. The only things the mother will be saving on is food.
Oh that's a surprise Ladybirder has settled on my response to criticise. There's a turn up for the book. So you think trying to get away without paying for his child for three weeks because he's taking her on holiday and doesn't like his ex is not 'mean spirited' and 'small minded', then Ladybirder? I mean do you really think that's a 'generous' and 'morally acceptable' way to behave, quite aside from it crossing my opinion? If you do then I'm really shocked, and not a little saddened.

Kvalidir, was it mean spirited and morally acceptable when my ex was using my daughter's £65 to throw bottles of Vodka down her neck? I asked a simple question and all it required was simple answers, not a battering, and for the person who commented 'he can afford a 3 week holiday' my mother paid for that using the money she left me when she passed away, some of you on here should be ashamed of your judgemental ways, shame on you
