Miss my Dad
24 Answers
I lost my Dad to Parkinson's Disease a year ago and I miss him so much will the pain ever go away. I feel I haven't grieved properly, my bf doesn't really understand cos he hasnt lost anyone close to him.
It was exactky a year on 24 March and me and my family had a get together, we drank tea and ate my dad's fav cake then went and put flowers on his grave. My bf thought it was silly to do that to bring up all the emotions again. Is he right.
My Dad was the only person I could talk to and I could really do with his advice right now.

I too lost my Dad last year and sometimes I don't feel like I've even started to grieve. He was your Dad and you should remember him in anyway you deem fit. As for needing you Dads advice.... listen to your heart, it sounds like he bought you up well so what you believe is what he would want for you.

Nay I lost my Dad 10 years ago and I still fill up when I think of him, on the other hand I lost my mother 7 months ago and I can't find it in myself to cry for her. I miss her but that is all. It does get easier as time passes, I think in your case because your father died of that terrible disease you have missed what he could have said and done for you before he died, I'm sure he loved you and would have said so if he had been able.Your Bf obviously doesn't know what it's like to lose someone, but you should do what you feel is right for yourself, Do you have a favourite relative you can talk to?, it's hard to carry a burden on your own,
So sorry to hear of your loss. I lost my dad in 1971 and my very close sister in 1972 (car crash). I STILL grieve over them after all this time. I still see my sisters kids and how they've grown up with families of their own and not ever knowing their mum / gran. I'm nearly 60 with 7 kids. I'd like to think they'll grieve over me, but I wouldn't want them to linger over it. Just hope you feel that one day you can think of your dad and have a laugh and joke with him (mentally).
I do, and it really helps.
