I've never had one of these and have thought of investing in a non stick set but would like some information first. Is it true that you don't need to use oil?
Is there a difference between the cheap and more expensive sets?
Where is the best place to purchase a set?

loads of difference in quality according to price... had a set of the ainsley herriot ones that were very good for a while but have switched to good quality stainless steel as the non stick eventually failed...and is hard to clean if you accidently boil the pan dry as desoite the name it does stick and you can't use heavy scourers. A good non stick fry pan is a different thing though the tefal red spot ones are excellent I'd still use an oil spray at least though

Is it true that you don't need oil - No. If you leave out oil the food won't stick, but it will burn.

Cheap and expensive - very much so. Cheap will not last.

You can get decent sets almost everywhere. B&Q, Homebase....all the major supermarkets...argos.

I also find Tefal good. I find the M&S ones rubbish though! There was an article in the Daily Mail a while ago (you could google for it) and a survey found that some of the supermarket ones were as good as expensive. Apparently they`re made by Prestige but the only difference is the Prestige name isn`t on them (Tesco was one of the brands mentioned)

Like Rowan I've also opted for stainless steel. I just have various non-stick frying pans.

I bought a large Ikea one about 3 or 4 years ago. Still in great shape and used often.

I wondered the same thing ummmm as i clicked on it expecting to be taken to tefal and ending up back on this sites homepage. Redhelen I'm not familiar with the phrase "Blunt broccoli"

I have non stick saucepans from Tescos and a non stick frying pan from Ikea. All very good and used daily.

ive got a set of non stick pans from sainsburys, the taste the difference range. They were intended as a stop gap until i could get le creuset non stick to match my stainless pans, but ive not felt the need to change them at all.
