Prime topside of beef!
48 Answers
Hi, someone has just given me a 2.1kg topside of beef, it looks absolutley beautiful, but having never cooked one before, how would you lovely people suggest I cook it to do it justice?
I have heard it can be a little tough if cooked wrongly.

I'd by some nice sliced chicken at the deli counter, stick it in a wee dish with gravy, cover with foil and cook for about 20 minutes while the beef is resting and you are sorting out your veggies. I do that every Christmas for my youngest as we like to have Duck and he wont touch it. If you want to be mega prepared, you could pre cook your beef as well and slice it when cold and put it in a dish and cover with gravy and heat up in the oven when you need it - that way, if it is a little tough, you can cooked it slowly in the gravy and it should tenderise a bit.

I know that feeling [sort of] Tamborine....it's just me and the kids and they won't eat lots of meat....so when they're at their dads I just do a roast for one....and really indulge....lamb shank being my fave....loads of roasties and veg....and what doesn't get eaten [not much] goes to my dogs!

honey toppings ;)
I bought a box of 25pkts of these (stored in boot of car) & pop in micro @ 10mins with smash & whole beans - quite rich but good staple for me.

they dont need fridge storage etc.
