I didn't hear any fireworks last night, it's been bad enough but not the worst year there's been. None of my immediate neighbours have had any.
It must be awful for frightened animals (and people). I was lucky, mine never flinched. The only thing that sent Mac running was if I dropped a baking tin.
Sorry your brother's down shaney, anniversaries are hard.

I dont like to moan about the cold here 10° and damp. Went out in leggings, boots and a hoodie and was so cold again plus it rained on and off. My cough has come back. Took loads of things to the charity shop, inc my lovely pair of nude patent platform heels which Ive only worn once to nephews wedding in 2012, but they are killers!
Afternoon all
Very parky here too, frosty this morning .I see there's snow forecast for some parts.
My brother has not long gone ,he brought me a carrier bag full of bramley apples from his tree so I'll have to get peeling and freezing.
Oooh that's lovely Neti .I didn't realise you could download the whole series at once, you're a clever girl.I wouldn't know where to begin to download films and stuff.
I watched that Dark Angel last night. It was sad in a way.I wonder what would have happened to someone like that these days. Obviously she wouldn't be hanged.I think she had mental health problems which of course they didn't know too much about in those days plus having baby after baby like that must have affected her.
Hope you're all keeping warm.

I'll take subtitles any time, it's the only way I can be sure of what I'm hearing.
I went to Wrest park yesterday - it's the stately home we went to in the summer but the house was closed for a wedding so we just strolled round the grounds. This time I went round the house, or the half dozen rooms that were open. Very pretty. French rococo they said. We are also gong to Waddesdon Manor for some sort of do tomorrow evening, which is also French rococo so I shall be a decorating expert soon. I think some of it is outdoors so I will need to wrap up plenty before I get rococo frostbite.

That's fine Neti .I'm used to subtitles as I watch a lot of scandi noir and some Italian films.Well,Montalbano and films that the actor is in who plays him. Plus most of the german stuff I watch has subtitles even though I don't really need them for those.I sometimes even put the subtitles on for the BBC mumblers .
Really cold here now and torrential rain forecast overnight and most of tomorrow .
How cheerful.

Morning...it's an utterly abysmal one.
Yes, what a circus in the US but I dislike both of them anyway so no surprises for me. I don't know how US politics work but the only amazement I've felt is that in such a vast place the only choice was those two.
More bad news for us, another old Uncle died yesterday. :( We've only one old aunt left now although there may be some on a branch of the family we've 'lost'.
Just trying to wipe 'crusty bed' from my mind and imagine myself drifting around a rococo stately home in ruffles and lace.

Sad when the old ones go Robinia .I have no uncles or aunts left now.
Yes it's a sorry state of affairs when the most powerful country in the world can't find any candidates better than those two.
I was just thinking that the Queen will have to entertain that awful man when he comes on a state visit.

the Americans have made their crusty bed, they will have to lie in it.
I'm surprised biddies still have older relatives - my last was an auntie who died in 2009 and before that my mum in 2004. That's why I've got into family history, as usual, it's when you're the oldest one still standing. I have only two or three older cousins left too (who have all been very helpful). I've published all my findings in a book, to save jno jnr the trouble in later years.
