A friend (who has been a veg grower for years) has had a crop of potatoes that are semi-transparent & too hard to eat after cooking whether boiled or slow roasted.
Any ideas as to what the reason might be? he doesn't remember the variety name, they weren't his usual choice. Thanks.

Oh Woofy those links are amazing. I love the Red Russian Army Choir and this is such fun. I would love to go to a concert - so obviously would Mr LL. MinL came from Lenningrad and FinL from Minsk.

I will just have to show him this links this evening - brilliant.

Glad Mr W is doing so well xxxxxx

Right... got some exercises to do, apparently some of my hip muscles have been falling down on the job. The first one requires a rolling pin.
when i got my knee prob the first time, the physio gave me hip and knee stability exercises that used a dog lead...no dog though
I have so many exercises for my hips/sacroilliac (sp) joints. I'll come and join you jno. One involves hanging one leg out of bed!!!
PS I love the close ups of the Red Army Guys jamming away and enjoying themselves

Love the Red Army singers Woofy. Brilliant. Brightened my day. Not that it's been too dull.Had a good morning at Tai Chi and lunch at the Marina. Had to go and have my specs tweaked again but i think they're sorted now. Thank goodness.
There's Love Shack by the B52s on the radio at the mo that always gets me rocking.
Hope everything is improving for you Woofy I think dogs sense when things aren't quite the same as they should be. Don't you.
I am so lucky. I hardly get any joint problems. Just occasionally my wrists and hands play up. I think that's with years of typing and till work. Even so it's not too bad. I have been taken Cod Liver Oil liquid for years so I'm hoping that has helped.
The weather turned out quite nice after all Robi. I put a coat on when i went out this morning then wished i hadn't.

Cuppa tea time now Later 'gater(s)
I have seen him and he's fine...wired and tubed up but talking and smiling....laughing hurts. He's about 24 hours ahead of recovery schedule...he's soooo competitive and both surgeons are very pleased. I have just eaten fish pie and a melting middle chocolate sponge pudding. next step bed.
I owe you all a lot....
nighty night
wonderful news, woofgang. Just keep him away from jokes for a few more days and you'll be right.
Great News and Goodnight Woofy.

Also Goodnight to everybiddy else. See yer later 'gater(s)!!
Good ni-ight...? But I only just got in! (and talked on the phone a bit) Been doing some errands down-town and ran into a whole lot of cops; today was the opening of parliament day and there have been demonstrations against the Sweden Democrats (the nazis that made parliament) and the nazis themselves flounced out of church because the bishop spoke of all men being equal. They took it to be a dig at them and I do believe that's correct, but still, she didn't exactly say anything outrageous! Completely unheard of behaviour. I feel like I'm in the Sound of Music and the swastika flags will soon roll out from the windows of buildings down-town. But our prime minister (whom I normally don't like) has been brilliant about it and said he won't touch them with a barge pole (as in he won't seek their support, ever). I think he means it.

That's wonderful news Woofy. See, we told you he'd be okay! See, Shaney? When the biddies say somebody will be okay, that means they will be okay. Remember that:)

Haven't checked your game out yet jno, I need a cup of coffee first and I've got to weigh in and everything before I'm allowed to sit down, nice machine Vinny, could you stand behind me as moral support please? That's it, right behind me... closer... closer... don't be shy... here goes http://i54.tinypic.com/nnw7jq.jpg

Loved the Leningrad cowboys Woofy, they've been around for ages but I didn't really know a lot about them. There are some mental Finns about, here's one who was on the radio a lot in my youth, M. A. Numminen https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wnBkstk-1Ag
Brilliant news Woofy!! Sleep tight xxxxxx

Have you got to do the Hippy Hippy shake Jno ? Hope it soon eases off for you .
Night all .Sleep well.

Just sleepwalking my way through, I'm so tired, I actually achieved something today...not sure what but I vaguely remember being pleased with myself about something..

Great news woofy, get plenty of rest!
*shoots robi's dog* sorry got it mixed up who posted what - but I'm still shootin' it!
well, not doing badly - I've thrown out another mountain of old newspaper cuttings as part of my ongoing declutter exercise - would you believe I had a magazine article on neoclassical architecture in Britain written by Loyd Grossman? Must have been before he hit the sauce.

And on the back of another clipping from the Times was 500 words on an England football match. 500 words! That would be five pages today. How times change.

Plus I've planed down the edge of the door to the patio which has been sticking horribly lately - must be the wet, I suppose, but it's never been that bad - plus I bought some shoes.

In fact the only thing I haven't done is exercise. Tomorrow!
<84736353638494048474746 moves later> I say jno, you wouldn't happen to have an article on the architecture of the doghouse in that game of Robinia's, would you? I don't get it!!!!!
Good morning Biddies.

Well done DH and woofy, am so pleased for you both! x

House all cleaned now, but have a stinking cold and we have to socialise tonight at a dinner, don't want to go but have to support (not physically!) Mr N!! as they are good clients of his.
