This is their third year and I have lots of fruit already but they don't seem to be putting out any runners this year for me to pot on .They are not in the ground but in a strawberry pot and various other containers .Are they past their sell by date and shall I chuck them once finished fruiting and get new for next year ? I have had a few ripe fruits already and they taste OK !

Your son's and d-i-l's new house sounds fabulous Jude - but all those stairs...! ...they need a fire man's pole! I remember so much wanting to try it when I was a child - and now they have them on playgrounds, which they didn't when I was a kid. Unfair. But my dad did buy me a rope ladder :-D It hung in the doorway between the kitchen and the pantry room - which you had to pass to get through to the rest of the apartment - so I don't know how it didn't drive my mother nuts.
We had a huge duplex apartment with masonry heaters, parquet flooring and stucco. I learned to ride a two-wheel bike indoors... I was scared but my father came up with the idea that we'd fix a rod to the luggage carrier and he would run behind holding it firmly as I made my first attempts. Said and done, round and round I went through the three drawing-rooms and the endless hallway corridor alongside the rooms, so I was going around in a circle over and over again you see and suddenly I see my father in front of me waving at me and saying "You're doing it on your own now" - I was so proud.
Did you see, it was all over the society news
jno and M had their picture taken today. Ah come on jno you're not fooling us - you are M.

didn't think much of Quantum of Solace - they should have called it The Bond Ultimatum, it's such a ripoff - he spends the entire film trying to find whoever killed his girlfriend in the last one. Unfortunately I couldn't remember how it happened so I wasn't that enthralled. There is also a plot about a wicked pseudo-ecologist, but I won't spoil your fun any further.
M is looking rather old these days (on screen, she wasn't there in real life).

O drat ..and I was sooo looking forward to seeing you in The Evening Standard Jno . I did see a pic of her in one of the papers today and she had a rather nice pair of earrings. She's good for her age though . I suppose she must be seventy odd now . I like her in BBC dramas. She was great in Larkrise to Candleford .She plays genteel ladies who flap about rather well .
I think you are right ;she is a bit too old to play M really .

morning...just poking my cold nose around the door to say thank you for your lovely kind words ( & ecard shaney).
Felt like I'd not only been through the mangle yesterday but got stuck in the rollers for about 10 revolutions, but I've got to hold it together today to go & talk to more 'strangers in cupboards' as I call them. Why are buildings so bloomin vast with miles & miles of corridors with nowt but srdn tins for offices?!
Had a squint at TCL's post & have to say the Ed's reply beggars belief (but well done ower Vin). I've seen abuse, smut & just plain sick posts & not one of those was singled out for a public putdown. It's one thing being firm & commanding respect but another being power happy.
now if you'll excuse me lovely friends, I've got a ship to launch

Hi gang. Ooooo it's so cold and I have to clean the windows. Was going to do it months ago but then they started digging the park up and there didn't seem much point in trying to keep them clear. Will definitely be wearing pants - and maybe even trousers...! (Don't know if y'all remember what I'm referring to, lets just say I'm often but not always aware of the differences between UK English and US English...)
It's good to see the tip of your cold nose round here Robinia. "Strangers in cupboards", Sweden is full of'em...
Remember Vinny's Women in Art? Here's a women in film from the same YouTuber, Eggman. Prepare to be frustrated - when you recognize someone so well but just cannot think of the name. We should do one of those morph videos: Biddies on the AnswerBank ha ha ha that would be great...! Btw click Eggman's avatar to look at his other videos, there's one called Self Portraits that's so cleverly made. Haven't watched the rest of them yet but see the lady with the ermine, by Leonardo...? ...that's what I've got for a computer wallpaper, in high resolution and with the dark background expanded to the right. Very nice. Incidentally that is also the picture I was trying to upload as my avatar, back in those days. What have you guys got as desktop backgrounds?

Thanks shaney x Living where I do, we have no drains, but in the main street, it heaves with poo when it rains, and it's not even treated poo, iot's as it comes, if you see what I mean! Have finally finished sorting through many years of collected rubbish - took 4 sackfuls to the rubbish dump and there's a further 4 of good stuff (tv and cordless phone -new) to go to the cancer charity for their fair in december. Am so tired and back is starting to twinge so daren't move quickly!!
I know what you mean Neti ..nothing here works properly either
You never see the old drain and gulley cleaners anymore and our water people to whom we pay mega money could not give a monkeys as long as their shareholders get their dividends . Viz ..the flooding fiasco a couple of years ago when the water couldn't get away because of blocked gullies and a pumping station that had not been maintained properly
I despair ..we get this all the bloomin' time ..
Much as I have become accustomed to being back by the sea in the bosom of my family there are times when I wish we had never left London .
People moan and say it's a dump but we never had so many problems there (house wise and otherwise )as we seem to have had here .
Rant over :)))

You won't know the author but you might have seen his roof

Ha! I know who your acquaintance is, jno! That was plenty info! How come you didn't mention the flamenco dancers??? Is it not true *morphs into Dame Edna morphing into Miss Marple* is it not true, jno, is it not true zat you did not mention ze flamenco dancers because you were in fact one of zem? (no wait that's Hercule Poirot's voice I'm doing) No idea what I'm talking about, the rest of yous? ...well I found an article about the book launch bash. (No Eeyore in the background of the photos though, as far as I can guess.) My only claim to Oxford is that my uncle was at one time the manager of Ede & Ravenscroft there. He anglified his Christian name when moving to Britain. My dad has often told the story of how his brother on a visit to this his old country carried an umbrella in bright sunshine and kept a pipe dangling from his lips at all times, unlit, unstuffed... (I'm not sure it's true.) He worked in London too for a while. Shaney for how long did you live in London? And for how long in Holland? Was it Amsterdam?
