Nasturtiums..

I planted some trailing ones up in potting compost in hanging baskets. I realised after, may be it would have been better to use my border soil. Am I going to get all leaf & no flowers?

im sure they will flower skyep, if not this year then next,and they will keep coming back as the seeds can be a pain to get rid of. Weeal im like you i dont have a garden but my mum has a large garden which she finds hard to manage so i do it for her (a family friend cuts the grass for her). ive grown some flowers from seed myself this year, poppy, godetia (think thats how its spelt) and canterbury bells. also have some lovely panseys in a trough at the front of my mums house that i rescued from lidls.

gosh skyep thats the look im after, when my dad was alive he planted raspberries and blackberries and over the years they have taken over the garden. my mum makes jam from the fruit but its getting too much for her so ive cleared some of the canes and blacks out, so she can still make some jam, and im now replacing with flowers, i planted loads of tulip bulbs late last year and have had a lovely colourful display, i love queen of the night, the colour is stunning almost black and they look velvety. and im so glad my clemetis made it thru the winter and has now flowered.

Have you seen the chocholate poppy? Think I have that right? Chochalate smelling! Those Canterbury bells are gorgeous are'nt they! & poppies are just beautiful! xxx

my partner grows sweetpeas in his home built troughs, i love the smell too especially in the evening. not heard of choc poppies, will have too keep an eye out for those. have some little yellow poppies that have grown in the garden for years and with me cutting things back they are getting a chance to shine, the same with the iris, they were being choked by brambles but now will have a good chance for their time in the sun, my dad had the right idea when he made sure the garden was south facing, it gets the sun most of the day.

I did know dusty, but so far have'nt tried them, apparently they have a peppery taste? x
