Ok the golden rule is leave any 'bubbles' and they'll flatten out overnight, what if they don't?
Also any joins that have lifted, what's the best way to get them to flatten now that the paste has dried and hardened the paper?

Bubbles? I always flatten them buggers. Never leave them overnight!
As for the joints. Hmmm. I usually just paste them down, the next day.

We kept some paste back for any corners/joins that might lift and just re-pasted them.

Eek, don't leave the bubbles! Take the paper off and do it again - only properly this time :p
The edges can be pasted lightly and pressed down again, maybe use one of those mini roller things.

If you do miss any bubbles, Elvis a syringe filled with paste can be squirted into them.
I find modern papers can be a pain at the joins. My bathroom wallpaper has a raised silver pattern....some joins wouldn't stick. I used copydex with a very fine brush and masking tape till it dried.

Never leave bubbles unless you can be sure they're paste and not air. To flatten them slit down them with a very sharp blade and coax paste underneath and then flatten them.
For lifted joins use a stronger more instant paste (obtainable at all good DIY stores)

Don't leave the bubbles overnight. If it's an 'air' bubble pierce with a needle/pin and brush it down or use a soft dry cloth.

A painter and decorator told me about leaving them overnight, it worked on one wall, not too sure about the wall I did today, still a few bubbles as we speak.

Fecking missus chose the paper and wanted it hung horizontal

Stripes? I like stripes hung horizontally.

The bubbles need to come out sooner rather than later, tho. Once they dry, even if you split them with a blade, there's usually a bump/slight overlap.

I once stuck a border to shiny wallpaper with cow gum. Nothing else seemed to work.
It was a brilliant fix but was manna from heaven for my cat who licked it till the surface came off. :s
