Not Happy With Washing Machine

Got a new washing machine about two weeks ago but I am not happy with. I follow the instructions and put it on to wash at 30 c with a 1600 spin. Sometimes it's fine but sometimes the clothes don't feel 'spun' enough. For example, tonight I washed four big towels and when they came out they felt too wet, but when I just span them at 1600 they came out much drier. Should I contact the manufacturer or the people we bought it from (over the Internet)?

My machine does not seem to do a proper spin sometimes... but I think newer machines are more sensitive and do not spin properly if the weight of the load is not balanced enough! I sometimes have to set it to spin again after a wash and then its usually Ok... it is annoying though.

I don't think its the machine. with things like towels and loads with say one bug one and some small ones, the machine wont be able to balance the load and it wont spin at full speed because if it did it would damage the machine. If I am washing towels or quilts or other big things, I set the in wash spin to 400 then do a 1600 speed after that. Spinning a good amount of water out at a slower speed lessens the total weight in the machine and lets the machine do a fast second spin.

Well that's a bit pants! What's the point of paying for a decent machine if they are not expected to work properly? Mmmm, will have to have a think about this.

My new machine only seems to spin properly when on a quick wash. I'm having to re-spin on a full wash..

probably the quick wash has a lower programmed spin speed.......

This is on a quick wash, nothing here gets really dirty. It was four, exactly the same towels. Oh well, something to complain about tomorrow. Seriously though, it wasn't cheap and I expect it to work properly. I bought it for it's 'spin ability' so the clothes will dry quickly.

Woof - it shows on the all singing, all dancing display thing that the spin is 1600, bloody thing should just do what it says on the tin.

sher, it can't if it isn't balanced. Does your machine have a memory setting? You pick your base program, adjust the temperature and spin to what you want then, save that program. When you turn on the machine and chosse the memory setting, your choice comes up (errrrm hate to ask but have you read the manual???????)

Woof, don't be daft - of course I haven't read the manual! So far I have only washed on fast wash, at 30c with 1600 spin. How difficult can it be for the washing machine to just do what it's supposed to do? (In a grump now at the prospect of having to read the stupid manual.)

Sher I'll sort your machine out if you sort out how I get a large sofa outside the front door. I weigh about 7½ stone. I have rang several 'man with a van' but they only do removals not disposals. So I rang the local council, they said they would pick it up for a fee of £20 but it must be outside. My head is spinning faster than your washer wondering who to ring next.

My machine will only do a 1000 spin on the quick wash.... Are you sure your quick wash does 1600? ( not meaning to be rude or question what you are saying! Lol )

Not an option sib. Although it is a lovely sofa or was until Mic became ill, it needs throwing away.

I've made that sound worse than it is. I've had it cleaned, The cushions have come up lovely but underneath the cushions the stain could not be removed. I would keep it as the stain is not visible but I need to get hospital bed, hoist etc in there and there is not enough room.

Jeza, the British Heart Foundation will take it free from your house, if it's in a sellable condition?
sorry, sherr, i don't know with yours.maybe it wasn't full enough? They have to be full so the weight is distributed properly and the washing doesn't get "thrown around" too much. Manuals? Pah!

Jeza, if no one wants it whole, could you somehow chop it up and get rid of it in bits?

Knowabit - the display says it is spinning at 1600, you can change the temp from 60 right down to 20 and the spin from 1600 to 800. I think it must have a problem as sometimes it does spin properly and sometimes it doesn't. Haven't done a long wash yet as nothing is that dirty (everything gets worn once) and the long wash takes forever (some Eco thing, full wash seems to take about 3 1/2 hours).

My machine does not do a good spin on the fast wash cycles.
I found that one way the 'fast' cycles are fast is because they use a shorter spin time. ( same speed but for less time) Now I use the standard cycles, takes longer as the wash and spin are longer but it does come out dryer. I would never do towels on a fast cycle as they need a long spin time , in fact spin time rather than speed seems to be the factor that determines how dry the washing comes out.
