Fan Oven

I have a new free-standing electric cooker with a double oven. The main oven has a fan but......the fan goes off when the oven has reached the set temperature and only kicks in again when the temp drops. I can't believe this is supposed to happen. Has anyone experienced anything similar?

Ummm - 3 weeks old. Yes, I shall definitely go back to Curry's (under the terms of the Sale of Goods Act) but I fear they'll pass it on to a Hotpoint "engineer".

I had a fault with mine. I emailed John Lewis about it and they sorted it. Apparently you need to set the clock!!

Does yours have a clock.

Are you sure the main oven doesn't have some different settings, my Neff ovens have a standard fan setting but also a fan assist (or some such) which has the fan kicking in and out periodically

This is a bog-standard basic cooker - it only has a minute-minder, no clock for a pre-set. Also no different modes for the fan. OK I stand corrected re Sale of Goods Act but replacement law amounts to basically the same thing.

I've already been to Hotpoint - got a lad who knew nothing. Time to up the ante!
