I didn't know they had the right to search your house. When I was a student and working 3 jobs plus full time education just to pay rent and Uni course fees I hadn't the money to pay the tv licence as well so I didn't, It turned out no one did in the halls of residence. Considering you buy one licence for one house normally, when you consider a halls of residence where its tiny little rooms and shared kitchen and toilet, If each of the rooms pays £134 or what ever it is they'd be raking it in. As it turns out the Halls was a tower block private to only card holders to get through security door, We all felt safe they could not come knocking, if they did I was on the 4th floor so word would spread up to us to 'lock down' and the main flat door (containing 7 individual flats within) had a spy hole so we just wouldn't have to open the door if they came, and lastly people said if the got through all 3 doors and into your room you could hide the tv and/or cut the plug off the end rendering it 'not working' and therefore unenforceable and the rewire plug on after....I have no idea if this is true, likely they have changed the rules anyway...
I am sorry if anyone think I am wrong to not have paid, but I was working hard to make a better life for myself paying my own way working all part time jobs to pay, I've never once taken any benefits. I hate the BBC and wouldn't miss it if they did away with it all. I pay now and have since I left halls.

I purchased a house about 18 months ago, I built an extension on the house and gutted the rest of the property. I approached the council because i did not want to pay council tax on an empty property. The council sent someone out deemed the property unlivable and I was granted one years exemption.
Meanwhile the tv licensing people were sending me threat after threat after threat. It never bothered me (there was no tv on the property) but the wife being made of different stuff was panicking. She eventually telephoned them to explain.
they took no notice what so ever, the threats continued. The wife even asked 'are you sure there is no TV on the premises' (better not give my reply to that)
i had a different problem to the guy in the vid, Because they were beginning to Fosters me off, I asked them to get off theirs arses and get to the property instead of sending threatening letters.
They ignored my request and continued sending threatening letters.
Muppets, a big up, to the bloke in the vid (well maybe)

pinkilady if i did not use electricity i would not get a bill and they would not want to search my property
you seem to be having a problem with not watching tv and buying a licence and getting your house searched
same would go for gas if you did not have a gas supply to your house would you like them to come round and search every so often

here is another thing for you to think over, if you have a large computer monitor you can watch bbc iplayer and i think the other tv stations have a similar service all day long so long as they are not live feeds free of charge
this is why the bbc want to introduce a media licence this has been mentioned on here. they can then ditch the tv licence because they know people are stopping paying for a tv licence all over the country.
if you are on a low income it is the ideal way to watch tv
