Just before checkout as there was vacancy going on checkout

Have you had a conversation with anyone in HR?

Question Author

Yes but when I asked checkout they said come in and clean than can go on checkout

But you said on that thread ^^ that you'd turned down the Selco cleaning job.

Question Author

The cleaning on its own yes

Question Author

I really thought I could do this long term and I've settled in

Question Author

I wouldn't know what else I want to do job wise

Abbey, settling in is one thing - but you also need to be able to do the job. I think we all hoped that this real, apparently full-time job would be the start of your life turning round. It hasn't worked out that way - you seem to run into the same problems time after time, and now you're right back to where you were about a year ago. I think we're all running out of ideas!

Question Author

Thought my life was back on track. They said only was I would get full time is if someone left.

Abbey, my guess is that it is not you that the supervisor does not like, it is your attitude.

The supervisor has to answer for the work done by the staff under her supervision.  If you are not doing the work to the acceptable standard, the supervisor will have to take responsibility for that.

And that is what the supervisor does not like.

Do the work to the acceptable standard, and you will be liked, and respected.

That means not asking for time off for trivial reasons, not disrespecting other members of staff, not making silly mistakes that cost the company money, and most important of all, it means showing yourself willing to do whatever it takes to get a good reputation as a hard worker and a reliable member of staff.

Question Author

It was ok today.

I was told they might have banned overtime so managers get thier bonus.

I don't understand why you keep bringing up banning overtime? Overtime is hours people work over and above their standard contracted hours. What hours were you told you would work at the start of this job (I can't go back through all the threads where you were asked about this). Businesses often put a ban on overtime when things are tough financially but that has nothing to with cutting normal staff working hours.

In other words without overtime what hours did you expect you would be working when you started??

Question Author

So was 10 at first but been working 37.5

So when you were first offered the job it was for 10 hours a week only?

Question Author

Yes but didn't know at first

Abbey, didn't you ask? You were changing to a new job because your last two positions ended up with 10 and 9 hours - surely you'd have wanted to know how many hours you'd be working?

Abbey, that link I posted ^^ is where you said that in February  you'd turned down 10 hours a week cleaning at Selco, so when did you actually start cleaning there?

...and when did you start on the checkout?

Abbey, even with all the confusion of your posts (re the hours offered, hours you did/wanted to do), I think you'll agree that it's not viable in the long term to work only 10 hours a week  and just hope that a) somebody leaves and b) that you get offered a full-time position. It's obviously not gone as well as you'd have liked, for various reasons. If you get a new job somewhere else, I hope you'll learn from some of the experiences in Selco?
