It seems to be the done thing to take on those wishing to go into teaching, already have a degree but are looking for a year's experience within the school environment.
The other route is to gain NVQ 2 in either early years childcare & education or NVQ teaching assistant. these courses take 9 months to complete although the more effort you put into it the quicker you can complete the course.. I will add you have to have a placement at a school and they usually ask for 3 months experience within a school before taking you on for the course.
If you gain level 2 or decide to go straight for level 3 (18 mth course) you stand a better chance of getting the job, but be aware that most LEA's are employing level 3's on level 2 pay (very naughty!)
