Help With Dbs Worry!!
hiya
i had a job interview today for a catering assistant in a secondary school and it went very well....
but i have to have a enhanced dbs and unfortunately i have a caution for common assault (slapped partner) and a non conviction restraining order (stops me and ex talking other to do with kids) there may be a warning for a little fight between me and his new partner too but it's all to do with them no one else and was all in the past (coming up to 3 years) is this going to affect the job? i really want to ring the lady who interviewed me this morning and tell her but don't want her to think oh god we wont have her!
any advice??

I know of a very similar case recently. A long time friend of my family applied for a job as a school crossing officer ( Lollypop Lady) . She lived just a few yards from the school and was the only applicant. Unfortunately she also had a conviction for common assault 23 years ago. She was told she could not have the job even though she was suitable in every way apart from the assault conviction.
You need to tell the person who is interviewing you and let her know you have a conviction for assault. They might still be able to offer you the job but don't bank on it ! Sorry again!

Under the 'filtering' rules which came in three years ago, your caution for assault will automatically appear on any DBS check for 6 years after you accepted it. Thereafter it won't show up. (A warning is also treated in the same way).
The restraining order won't automatically appear on a DBS check. However, with an enhanced check, a senior police officer can authorise the inclusion of any information which he/she deems to be relevant to the post being applied for.
So your conviction and warning will definitely show on your DBS check but (in my opinion) it's unlikely that the restraining order will.

haha very true i'm sure i'll manage :) one question if anyone can help....the pay is spread over 12 months so i don't go without over half terms so the pay is £7.20 per hour 20 hours a week and i'm working 38 weeks a year my friend who is a teacher said it will be worked out as followed:
£7.20 x 20 hours = £144 per week
£144 x 38 weeks= £5472
£5472 divided by 12 (months in year) = £456
so am i right in saying £456 will be my monthly take home

As long as it's your only job that will be correct (because you won't be earning enough to trigger either Income Tax or National Insurance).
If you've got another source of income though (such as an evening job) you'll need to remember that Income Tax is based upon your TOTAL income so (if the total comes to over £11,000 per year) tax will be deducted from one of your two jobs.
