can anyone tell me why the UK refused to ratify the convention i mentioned earlier (the convention on suppression and punishment of apartheid)?

None of the leading Western nations ratified the Apartheid Convention; had they done so, they would have been obliged to arrest South African ambassadors, ministers, and visiting trade representatives of the very lucrative business interests which existed, and charge them with the crime of apartheid.
