Maybe "value" was poor wording. "Hold more importance" to the messenger rather than the message is more accurate.

Seems to me that there are a lot of people who have got the hump with her because she’s researched her subject and knows what she’s talking about, whilst others could only dream of such wisdom at that age.
Jealousy is not a very endearing trait.
