Did you pass your driving test first time?

I think it makes you a better driver if you do not pass your first practical test.
You realise you are not a wonderful driver just an average driver, and hopefully take more care.
I passed first time, am I a wonderful driver? Sadly not.

I was staying with a single mum and her young child at her house......she was lovely and we got on really well...still stay in contact to this day.
It beat running around on my little motorbike. :0)

My test was first slot at the Test-centre on a Monday morning. My instructor (close-family friend) had let my Dad borrow his Driving-School car over the weekend so I could get some final driving practice in and then had a new clutch fitted to this Chevette on the Sunday.........:o(
I passed second time, though ; 2nd July 1981......and drove to school that afternoon. :o)

I believe I'm the record holder here - passed on my 7th attempt after 6 years of trying ( 6 fails with the same instructor, then finally went to BSM & passed). I believe it was more nerves which did not help. I gave myself a break for a couple of years then re-tried after a lot of encouragement & passed. Sometimes I think we try too hard. Am I a good driver - without a doubt. Never had an accident in 15yrs and I believe I'm a very considerate road user.
Ah yes, back in September 1961 around the streets of Chester, my first task was to reverse round a corner. Not only did I go over the kerb with 2 wheels, I actually went over with all 4. Thinking I had failed I used the rest of the test for experience. Imagine my surprise when the examiner told me I had passed!
My three children were all taught by a local lady instructor and all passed first time after less than 30 lessons between them. My hat goes off to that instructor as the 3 of them are all extremely good and safe drivers. By the way, that instructor now teaches advanced driving to the Police.
ps....mrs jd also passed first time too
OK, trumpet blown
