Did you pass your driving test first time?

I think it makes you a better driver if you do not pass your first practical test.
You realise you are not a wonderful driver just an average driver, and hopefully take more care.
I passed first time, am I a wonderful driver? Sadly not.

He failed me on not looking around enough when I was parking. Instructor was sure he would normally only give me a minor in normal circumstances.
Second time I hit a curb while parking. Otherwise a perfect test.
The test I passed was actually my worst.

I passed first time, but that was forty years ago.
The stats for a first pass at seventeen, which i did, was 42%, so I was very well chuffed.
Driving and other drivers today are a world away from those days, when everyone was patient with a learner, gave room and gave way etc. I would not like to learn and pass today!
