how do i go about it and how much will it be??

try the main dealers, they may have to programme it, when I bought a new key for my car a few years back it cost nearly 100 quid

well first you take your existing key to the vw garage and they will charge you around 50-100 pounds. if u dont have the original key then u need to contact the garage where it was first sold and get the immobiliser code :)

I had a key made recently and ther are 3 charges involved. Because I did not have the key number this would cost me about �25. The actual cost of the key with chip installed is about �30. You then have to take the car to the dealer to have the key programmed which costs about �40. One big rip off!

I have a 2007 (57) Jetta and two dealers wanted to charge me just under �150 for a key, which I have since found fortunately.

vw dealer wanted �100 for the key and �50.00 for programing it

or you could have the cheaper key and it was �48.00 but still need programing for �50.00again

the cheaper key has no remote thing!

RIP OFF - ME THOUGHT

but i got in touch with a key specialist who goes round in a van with all spare bits etc and he fixed it for a fraction of the price!
