What on earth did you want her to do? Back-flips and somersaults and sing a song? I wouldn't have chosen her for P.M. but I thought it was quite a good speech. Concise and well spoken. After the long and probably tiring day she had just had it was just long enough.

I think the stress would have done for me. Up early, shower, dress in your posh frock, perfect make up and hair styled to look your best, flight to Scotland, an audience with the Queen, flight back, and then deliver a speech to the world’s media. Not a day down a coal mine, granted, but I’d call that a tough day. Bet she’ll be pleased to kick her shoes off tonight and slug a glass of wine or three. I know I would be.

I hope I’m proved wrong but think that the slating of British workers combined with her plans to restrict the unions will prove her undoing, there’s a winter of severe discontent on the horizon and she doesn’t have the constitution of a Thatcher to withstand it.
