When the time comes, should Margaret Thatcher be given a full state funeral
You could argue that there's a precedent (Churchill), who led the country to victory in a 20th century war.
Two opposing stories, and their responses from the Daily Mail, show that there might be some division in the way her demise may be percieved:

She put restrictions on, the out of control unions . Restrictions which were not reversed under Labour and Blair admitted they were right. She introduced the poll tax which was fairer in theory but couldn't work in practice but has the community charge which replaced it been any fairer ? She got a big rebate on our contribution to the EU . Did Labour do any better . No ! In fact Blair gave half of back again . She had built up our gold reserves and Brown sold half of it for what is was worth .
She stopped pouring massive subsidies into inefficient pits which caused many to close down . Did Labour reinstate them . No ! So please tell me anything she did wrong that Labour put right over the 13 years they were in power.
I am asking this as someone who voted Labour and whose father was a shop steward so I'm not a hated Tory .

As a postscript I am adding my favourite portrayal of M. Thatcher in 'Spitting Image'
Various cabinet politicians seated at a table waiting to be served food.
Waiter[W] to Thatcher[MT]
[W] What will you have as your main course?
[MT] 'I will have the steak'
[W] 'and your vegetables?'
[MT] 'they will have the steak as well'
I laughed for weeks over that one.

There is something I have always wondered about with regards to Margaret Thatcher. Why do (most) men hate her so much? She seems to incite so much vitriol from men but not from women. Is it that men just seem to absolutely hate being "ruled" by a woman? There have been a lot of terrible PMs over the years (Blair for example) but he doesn`t cause half the hatred of Thatcher.
