I understand wanting to protect property/ family .. but! .. surely we can't have a law that says it's o.k to wield a lethal weapon?

what i was wondering, did the burglars know the family that lived there
and target them specifically.

Not many details as yet em .. it's not sure either if the knife was taken in to the house by the intuders, or if it belonged to the householder.

i agree with most of the answers, i couldn't give a damn about the burglar, he can rot.

good riddance to the burglar in my eyes..if i ever caught anyone breaking into my house he would have a baseball bat wrapped around his head..and so would anyone with him...

Carmalee- i'll be the first to admit that if i was confronted with a burglar in my home I'd keel over in a faint. That doesn't stop me being bloody gleeful when someone with far more guts than me confronts one! And if a burglar happens to die in the process, im afraid i'll be reluctant to raise any response other than "hah! Good!"

i confronted a potential thief, i threatened him, and he ran off the little weasel.
