notasyoung - as said before, it's not only ethnic minorities - I know many converts to both Islam and Judaism, all from the indigenous "white" population, and there are lots in Canada and the US as well. Many don't fall into the ethnic minority bracket.
My response was referring to a wide range of responses and not Safiya's per se.
Safiya - cool down a bit. Using hissy-fit language in response to the comments I made- doesnt cut any ice with me and devalues your arguments.
I am more than aware that a man must provide and I could go pretty deep into the Quran with you to many of the responisibilites on both men and women - and oh by the way have spent several years travelling to Muslim countries and handling international commercial contracts as well as an inherent interest in both comparative religious and legal systems.
An interesting point about the marriage contract. This sounds very much like a pre-nup which, to the best of my knowledge, is still unenforceable in the UK. So if Safiya's marriage did fail (which of course it is to be hoped it will not) and one or other of them chose to go to UK law because they felt like it (as happens when marriages fail and the mind of an aggrieved ex partner is not the same as it was at the time of the marriage), would that not overrule the Sharia contract?
i dont need to cool down DT im not angry ...... i just looked back the only thing i said in reply to you was p1sses all over it..... thats just a phrase not an indication of anger.... i am actually laughing my arse off at you considering the way you talk on here... things you come out with are actually disgusting!
daisy aog mentioned me by name and directly underneath whatever the users called said 'yes the sheer arrogance is typical' looks to me like it was aimed at me.....
Do you know what? This thread and others like it before and many more to come just shows that multiculturalism cannot work, not in a million years. Even different tribes in the jungle are at each others throats, no cultures can live happily side by side IMO because the cultures are so different they oppose one another and if living side by side there will always be conflict by its very nature. Sad to say but it's the case as has been proved many times over.
that was more what I was referring to Safiya - don't rise to their bait...your arguments are more powerful as a result.
There is one thing that you learn in travelling in the ME and here and that is the depth of misunderstandings all around about Islam/Christianity and Judaism (same is true elsewhere) between all in the sense of not understanding the others' religion/law - this thread reflects it in part.
