Sorry, no link.

When they crack down on mobile phone use in cars which is illegal, I'll give it some serious thought.

(Ok mobile's with ear phones or whatever they are called is allowed)

ah ok - ignore - have just had a look and it seems like he has "previous" - http://www.theanswerb...s/Question991948.html
on the TV news earlier, they put a meter in the car beside the child in the back (or where the child would be sitting). Even though the window was open, the toxins spreading back into the back seat were at an unacceptable level - contrary to belief, they don't all head off out of the window.
when i was a porter at our hospital i helped a woman to her car which was being driven by her partner, a woman in the back i presume mother or mother -law, the nurse handed the 2 day day old baby to the mother when she got in the door closed the nurse went back inside .i looked back and all 3 grown ups were lighting up, windows were closed,
i felt like thunder but could do / say nothing
he he, Dave ...

Or we could tell him how much less pollution and congestion there would be if we all rode bikes, instead ofgas guzzling cars.

(gas guzzling means any car above 1,600 cc really.
I don't believe any smoker on here is advocating smoking in cars with children.
^ You should have got round the back of the hospital .. and check out all those doctors and nurses outside the door having a fag.

Why's that then? If it were so dangerous (when compared to everything else in life the government wants to control) why didn't they all stop?

Shouldn't government and NHS practice what it preaches and ban smokers?
^ That was to Mr Spratt : )
Nope .. I never smoke in anyone's house .. and never (even when invited)
.. nor smoke in cars with kids or others in the car.
(it's difficult enough making a rolly driving!)
I've never seen a smoker smoking in a car with the windows up. Even hardcore smokers would struggle with that...
Only a small number of people smoke with children in the car ... harming them.

But huge numbers of people feed their kids unhealthy food ... harming them.

Is the Govt targeting the wrong group here?

Should we be criminalising feeding certain food to children?

(sugars, fats, preservatives, etc)

We are constantly being told that childhood obesity is reaching epidemic levels.
Yeah ... All that fast food (to save time in the morning) mums dispatch their kids off to school with .. that's why there are soooo many over-weight kids.
Ban that too.
Successive Governments' obsessively increasing restrictions on smoking will eventually lead to a replication of the US Govt's ban on alcohol ...

... and we all know what a "success" prohibition was !!!

A nation full of alcohol peddling gangsters.

Still, at least we don't have any organized crime in the UK.

Oh wait, hang on ... yes we do. In fact, we are told it is increasing every day.

Oh, dear.

Being nicked for *checking* a mobile whilst stationary at red lights (etc) is just wanky and confirms that crap like this is just hidden taxing.
birdie1971 if you had decent money coming in would you want it to stop hence they make up more facts to scare the public

i love this site , ban smoking, ban bikers ban this ban that but the things we like are ok and never harm anyone pmsl

itchy's friend daughter had a headache for a few days took her to the doctors
doctor sent her to hospital, hospital gave her up to 12 months to live

she died two weeks later of cancer, heavy smoker NO, parents smokers NO

she was just 10 years old and had never touched a cig in her short life on this planet wonder what the experts blame for her death besides the big C
I haven't read all the posts, so many, so apologies if this has been already said, not only dangerous to smoke whilst driving, but the discarding of cigarettes whilst still alight out of the car windows is totally irresponsible. Roadside fires etc, even the odd leaky fuel pipe that owners don't realise they have. Flashed a female driver with a car full of children , pulled along side her , ignored her swearing at me and pointed out to her fuel gushing out underneath her car. Just as well she didn't have some inconsiderate driver in front of her throwing out lit ciggies.
