So poorer families are cutting their '5 a day' are they?
Couldn't be they have never been particularly interested in '5 a day' diet could it?

i think em10 has a point, there appears to be limited cooking skills in some families. It doesn't seem to be something thst get passed on from parents anymore.
My son had a friend round for tea a while ago and when I put a chicken leg on his plate he nearly had a fit. he had never seen meat on the bone before and wouldn't believe me when i said it was chicken as it didn't come in slices....

I am very lucky that I have a very good farm shop near to where I live. Potatoes and carrots with soil on, cabbages, kale. and sprouts on the stem all with that mornings dew or rain still on them. The prices are usually a 1/4 of supermarkets and cheaper than Lidl. Unfortunately the farmer doesn't do fresh fruit. The shops push the idea of 5 a day and then go and charge about 4 shillings for one small apple. Darn, showing my age now.

/// I think we should steer clear of comparing food with cigarettes. ///
/// People smoke because they are both physically and psychologically addicted to nicotine. ///
And aren't some who also have an habitual eating addiction?
/// I bet if you surveyed 100,000 smokers and asked them "If you could take a pill that would stop your craving for cigarettes over night" the vast majority would say 'Yes'. ///
And ask 100,000 fat people "if they could take a pill to stop them craving for fat inducing foods, so that they could become slim" the vast majority would also say "yes".

Very strange this, a thread that has been called a non-story by some, has attracted thirty-three answers so far.
And non-story 2 has done even better by attracting sixty-four so far, (but then to be fair that was a Guardian story non-story).
And yet this real story,
http://www.theanswerb.../Question1097750.html
only attracted severn answers and two of them were mine.
Strange very, very strange.

/// wasnt it you who called it a non story to start with? or queried whether it was before you jump down me throat.... lol at answercounting ///
Oh, how how I do enjoy proving someone wrong when they do not not know what they are talking about..
It was not I who called it a none story to start with, but by the 'Story Adjudicator' Gromit when he stated:
/// Not sure this is anything new, or why the Telegraph finds this newsworthy. Another none story. ///
I did in fact sarcastically christen this sixty seven answer question, 'Another Non-story'.

When we had allotments (when my husband was alive) two of his friends came to visit us - on the allotments. My husband offered them fresh vegetables - really fresh just out of the ground. One of them refused politely and said his wife wouldn't know what to do with it, she always bought freezer packs and just emptied them according to instructions. What a reflection on our lives!
