if you ran over my dog i'd want you dead.
many of the hillsborough 'fathers' want police officers hung, drawn and quartered
prince william wants certain photographers jailed
I assume you support all these things ...
<a hand-wringing do gooder who views the world through rose tinted glasses >
well it's good to see you don't have to stoop too much to reach personal insults
oddly, my views on arming police and capital punishment seem to be shared by senior police officers including the head of GMP
in your world, are they <<hand-wringing do gooders>> too?
what a joke.

Yes I have a 24 year old daughter - same age as one of the officers murdered.
That doesn't mean I need to go into the neurotic, paranoid, mindless state that your bizarre rant illustrates
As i stated above, if anyone hurt my daughter i would be angry, distraught and vengeful
But no one in their right mind would suggest that the next day i'd be the best person to draft criminal law or sentencing guidelines for applying to everybody else

TWR,
Thanks for responding to my post for you. Don't know if this helps, but Police Officers do indeed find it really frustrating when they spend loads of time and effort in trying to get offenders brought to justice only to seemingly get knocked back by the very system they think is there to support their efforts.
Let me tell you a brief, true story: I was on duty one night when we were called to a punch up at a club kicking out at about 2am. We drove up and there were various people leaving via a first floor flight of steps and halfway down those steps my attention was immediately drawn to one of the bouncers giving a guy a real going over - the guy was prostrate whilst the bouncer stood over him kicking and punching him.
Trying to cut a long story short, it ended up in Crown Court, this bouncer had been charged with assault. I took the stand and before I had a chance to give my evidence, the Judge addressed the jury, and to the best of my recollection, said to them the following:
"You are not to treat evidence from Police Officers any differently to the other witnesses". We had several prosecution witnesses but all of them, simply because they'd been in the club, had been drinking and at the time, they were obviously under the influence, including the guy who'd been assaulted. I, and the other Officers, was stone cold sober.
We went on to lose that case thanks to the Judge's 'advice' to the jury and the smirking bouncer most definitely got away with it. So you can appreciate that frustration I mentioned?

because people speak from the heart when their loved ones are hurt, it may not seem reasonable at the time, but i would say the same i am sure had any one of my family were hurt, killed, i would want those who did it to suffer. No good being mr or mrs niceperson, time to exact some of God's own thunder..
<it may not seem reasonable at the time>
em
that's because it isn't reasonable - it's emotional, natural, heartfelt
all of those things and more but not 'reasonable' ie based on 'reason'
the Law, if it is to function and be respected by the majority of the people; needs to be 'reasonable' ie just, rational, impartial, objective and based on truth and fact not emotion and hurt.

no, but consistency, right across the board. A woman who aborted a full term baby got eight years in prison, good, but a rapist who can also destroy a woman's life, can and often does get a much lesser sentence. There is no sense to much of the sentencing you see, that is why people get angry, when some criminals just stick two fingers up at the system.

i agree it appears crazy sometimes, and often it may be, but cases and those convicted aren't all 'consistent'
judges are given sentencing guidelines but also expected to apply the most appropriate sentence for the particular circumstances. I'm sure you don't object to the fact that some are given a more harsh sentence if there was an aggravating factor. So, inevitably there are also others at the other end of the scale.
the trouble is, courts and judges spend a long time considering a huge amount of data - then the media present a view in a couple of paragraphs. It is easy to make judgements appear ridiculous.
And admittedly, judges make mistakes some times.

zeuhl the law must change with the times..its no use being stuck in the 1970s the punishment must fit the crime..your views are outdated by 30 odd years there is scientific evidence now accurate enough to within 100% to pin point a murderer to the victim so the case for a ''miscarriage of justice'' is almost non-existant...im not stooping low enough to personally insult you..i just think that your views on this matter are outdated...do senior police officers go out on the beat to face the dangers that pcs and wpcs do?? no they do not..the days of policing the streets with a truncheon are well gone..cs gas and tasers are very useful i agree...what chance did these wps have armed with a truncheon??...answer me that!!!!
I meant to say:
i have a friend who is a jp
often when he gives me the topline on a case i respond with 'what?!'
when he explains his reasoning it always makes sense
the criminals who 'stick a finger up' mostly seem to be low level regular offenders- the sort who aren't murderers - just pains in the ass for their community
they seem happy to bounce in and out of court, get fined, don't pay fine, and onget jailed, abscond, get caught, locked up, let out - over and over and the system seems unable to make a difference

Keroscene, I like many observe the law, we all get a bit over the top at times Eg, 35 in a 30 you know what I mean, My self & my wife often watch on the W/End Police camera Action, I pity the stand you have to take with these Pizz heads, the abuse you have to take even the W.P.O. but scum that thinks its within their rights to go out & get Izzed and abuse people, what I cannot understand why in many cases the TAZER cannot be used??? My wife's laughs at the way I conduct my views on people with their self inflicted injuries getting Izzed, abuse the police, A&E & persons that try to help them, I would like to think we live in a civilized society ( Before you start you lot) the stupid bloody law has been passed by a load of Salad Chefs that do not know what the outside world is like, do you not think that the time will come that the public will start to take things in their own hands? as I end this, please except my condolences for your self & your former colleagues due to this unnessary injustice. & can I point out to the scum that MABEY part of this site that harboured this evil piece of dirt, I hope you are pleased with yourselfs.
