I've just got in and heard the news.
The suggestion from some idiots on here that the girl should now be named is ludicrous, for the reasons that SP has already hinted at. She was not believed by the Jury and he was. There really isn't any more to it than that.
The sooner the legal pointy heads in this country get around to making a case for the accused in cases like this, to be given anonymity the better. The age of the girl is immaterial as the same protection would have been given to an adult accuser.
I just hope that this chap can get back to some kind of normality as soon as possible. Its been a very disturbing case.

Where the mother was or wasn't is not the point. There wasn't enough evidence to find him guilty and there is no evidence to show that she was lying. This sort of nonsense is hardly likely to encourage other victims to come forward. There must have been enough evidence for the CPS to take it to court, don't suppose they toss a coin to choose which cases do or don't go to court.
It really winds me up when people say that the accusers in these cases should be named.

If your 11 year old son accused a man of raping him, and the case went to court, but was thrown out on a technicality, would you be happy for your 'lying b*stard' son's name to be printed in the national papers?

For goodness sake ! Michael La Vell is a very prominent actor, in one the most watched TV programs on TV today. According to his accuser, she was abused by him on a number of occasions. I think she would have known who it was that was raping her.
I repeat, the Jury decided that she wasn't telling the truth and there was no other corroborating evidence against La Vell, like forensic for instance
The case with the boy that was raped at the care home in North Wales all those years ago is completely different. The reason that the boy, now a man, identified his abuser on Newsnight as a certain Lord X, was that the Police showed him a photo of the person that abused him. The Police identified the abuser wrongly, and until very recently the chap had never given what the Police told him another thought. His real abuser was almost certainly a relative of Lord X, who lived nearby, with the same surname.

The point I was trying to make earlier was that since the commencement into the actions of Jimmy saville began all these other arrests have taken place.So the questions I would ask are,
1) Did these assaults,rapes whatever take place and would they have come to court anyway, albeit years after they happened.
2) Have all these cases been pursued because the Police in their incompetence having not followed up the Saville issues now want to get even with some other famous names.
3) Are they false allegations by people wanting to make money for themselves out of people from the Public eye who they came into contact with,however tenuously.
It will be interesting to see how the forthcoming cases are played out.

Have been following this story and from all the evidence I knew he would be found not guilty, medically no damage to girl, but what was the relationship how did she know him and make the awful accusations was he a family friend relative etc. Do you think she will now give up her anonymity to tell her story.
