I find it difficult to believe, that in our Welfare State and Benefit system that parents or parent can't afford to give a child breakfast before he/she leaves for school. These parents have money for cigarettes, alcohol and dare I say it drugs, but yet cannot afford to feed the child.

If one cannot afford to feed a child......don't have any ( contraception)

We were classified as poor, we had free lunches and no, we did not feel ostracised or different.

Yes I would object to my taxes being used in this way, if I loved in the UK.
No crap food at my sons school.

Chips on a Friday, that's as junk as it gets.
sqad beat me to it....I feel exactly the same.
If research has shown that children perform better on a full stomach and most school work is done in the morning, do we now provide breakfast as well?
Do I feel more burdened ensuring our child and all other primary children are getting a warm and balanced meal every day or do I feel more burdened by my tax contributions going towards prisons housing repeat offenders or the benefits agency paying out to benefit frauders???
Sqad....you clearly don't understand benefits.

// if I loved in the UK.//

I thought you had sqad!
Lots of schools do, yes.
'There is no finer investment for any community than putting milk into babies.' Churchill's words are as relevant today as when he said them.
^ provide breakfast
vulcan: I believe some schools already do!

Thank you, I didn't know some schools provide breakfast.
Welfare helps the poor. It covers meals for kids. There is no need to give more handouts to all, rich & poor. More insanity from a poor government who seem to fail to know right from wrong.
if chocolate pudding and pink custard is back on the menu i think i'll regress and go back
I think its a good idea; some poor kids never get breakfast not always because parents can't afford it, but because they are too lazy to provide for their kids.

I think there are many other burden on tax payers, but I don't think this is one of them.

Some of the money that is intended to feed the children of poor families might be frittered away. Feeding them in school guarantees that they do get at least one decent meal on weekdays.
I never liked the frogspawn desserts. What were they, anyway?
fly pie too, that was good, covered in sugar and thick dollops of custard.

If it's not a burden on taxpayers fusion5, what the heck is it?
