Just thought I would enter this on behalf of sp1814, because I think he may be a little shy considering that he has been criticising me for repeating the same stories even though mine were years apart.

/// Frankly, the arrogance of this couple in believing that having been advised they have broken the law once, and fined, they would find an alternative verdict in any other court, indicates their unwillingness to accept the law of the land because it does not suit them.///
It works perfectly well for illegal immigrants who go on to commit much more serious crimes than refusing accommodation to a couple of gays, so why shouldn't these two Christians take advantage of the legal facilities available to them also?

AOG - " ... why shouldn't these two Christians take advantage of the legal facilities available to them also?"
Er because the 'legal facilities' are not available to them - they should have taken the hint from their first legal case.
The law is - you don't discriminate, not you don;t discriminate, unless you feel like it, in which case that's OK.
Like I said, the arrogance with which this couple have pursued the same legal sanction, somehow imagining that if they ask enough judges, they will find one who believes they are right is beyone belief.
If you want to ensure that your rules are obeyed in your home - no problem, but maybe running a B & B is not the business you should consider.

I don't think the gay couple have necessarily been vindictive - they have simply stood up for their rights.
And let's not forget...for that, the BNP leadership published their home address and encouraged their followers to 'go around their house and show them a little drama'.
This is why I feel particularly supportive of them.
But by the same token - there have been some cowardly people who have sent the Christian couple threatening emails.

I actually quite enjoy how the B&B owners are being utterly crucified over this. Petty, I know, but I can't lie. They're quite plainly in the wrong.
Really can't see what buggery/sodomy have to do with it. But as usual that's just about the only thing people seem to be able to think of when they think of homosexuals.

Indeed - the majority of straight people seem to assume that homosexuals fall into stereotypical roles, from which they never deviate.
The most popular, among insecure straight men, is that any gay man is a voracious predator, and will jump on any man in sight. The reality is (and I have pointed this out when someone has got particularly offensive about it) is that when any gay man is around, their bodies are totally safe, the needn't worry!!
Simiarly, and I am sure jack will back me up on this - the notion that all lesbian couples must consist of a 'butch' one who 'plays the man' and the 'fememine one' who 'plays the woman'. Nice to have your entire orientation boiled down to one stereotype that belongs in a 1970's television sitcom!
