I think from reading this it seems that the Coalition is failing to get rid of our foreign criminals, so may I ask our Labour supporters how would they behave differently so as to correct this mess we seem to be in?

But to be fair, I am sure that those on the Right can come up with an answer as well.

I can only come up with the usual remedies, ie get out of Europe, don't allow them into our country in the first place, don't spend money helping other countries to build prisons and spend that money building more for our own use.

Deport all foreign criminals = 11,000 free spaces in prisons.

These spaces are then available and can be used by convicted British criminals and as overcrowding becomes less of an issue they can be given harsher sentences. For those who deserve it, there will always be room at the inn.

Frankly, AOG, I reckon that those of the left wing persuasion would far rather see some of the bankers imprisoned long before they start to tackle any issues to do with petty criminals of foreign origin.

I can't emphasise the word petty enough, there. Only handfuls of victims. The banking crimes were on a grand scale and damaged all of society.

Interesting that you wish to hear the views of Labour supporters regardingg the complete failure of what you call "the Coalition" but in reality it's the fault of the Cameron and the Conservatve Party. Mind you, you couln't bear to say that of your beloved rabble.
O.K. to avoid our trap in which you wish to snipe at labour, I as a Labour supporter say: Do the same as "the Coalition" and keep their policies.

If we do that there's every possibility that some countries will not take such responsibilities seriously and they'll just get let out after a conveniently short spell - after all we won't be watching them and hell the crime wasn't even committed in their country.

We can argue about who should be deported after serving their sentences but if you ask me - do the crime in Britain, do the time in Britain

Why as a self confessed Labour supporter are you so touchy and why do you have to be so offensive, I refer to your choice of words "your beloved rabble"?

You don't appear to be all that smart either because you obviously do not realise that a Coalition Government is now in power and not a Conservative one, that is not because I shy away from blaming the Tories it is just a known fact.

Well thanks for giving a more level answer than the last one.

But in opposition to your suggestion that we hang on to them, I myself think that it matters not if they don't serve their sentence in the UK just as long as we rid ourselves of them in this country, and of course make sure they do not return to these shores.

Surely to those who have travelled many miles to get to this country and in many cases paid a huge sum of money to a person or persons to arrange their transport, all so they can enjoy the rich pickings in the UK, don't you think that to be sent home would be more of a punishment than a short time enjoying the comforts of a British prison?

I'll bear that in mind if anyone I know ever gets murdered or raped by a foreigner. It'll help me keep things in perspective.

I agree with jtp that if they've committed a crime here they should be jailed here - and then driven from the prison straight to the airport afterwards.
Isn't the problem that we can't get rid of them even after they've served the time? I thought being deported contravened their human rights if they've own a cat or something.
