Think it was just the transmission that was cut, Tilly.

Thanks Frank. I'm still mad at having missed some of it.

Dr F...there is certainly a case to be made for the use of cannabinoids for medical use....no disagreement from me there.
tilly. i was so sad when transmission suddenly stopped. if you find a link for the remaining set, let me know please.
I will, anne. I wasn't sad. I was hopping mad!
Mikey

The piece is called Mythodea by Vangelis. I am surprised you didn't spot Kathleen Battle and Jessye Norman doing the warbling.

Actually I did spot Jessye but I couldn't be sure. Thanks !
I'm watching Glasto on BBC2 right now.

The stage and the hands of the current performers are covered is some sort of white powder.

Mikey, please accept my apology if the said powder turns out to be cocaine.
I actually think that the taking of a few recreational drugs would help this act.
Jeez I would need to be high to listen to any of this. The opera for me any day. Coming mikey?
Roy...have you just watched the dancing act?
ladybirder, It was the English National Ballet Company.
Yes, ummmm

Couldn't afford Glyndebourne these days ladyB ! Used to go but not now I am a pensioner. But if I lived closer to Town, I would go to the Coliseum more often.....very high quality these days and reasonably affordable.
Roy...they would have been good on the X-Factor where they only get a few mins. They were yawning. Mikey would have loved them :-D
mikey up until 18 months ago I got freebies for the final dress rehearsal of the opera of my choosing at Glyndebourne. The FDR is no different to an actual performance except for the audience which is made up mainly of relatives of those who work and perform there. Then 18 months ago my friend who worked there selfishly changed his job! How very dare he! End of freebies:-( I got to see three glorious Mozarts and a wonderful Donizetti and would love to go again but like you can't afford it on my pension. I too used to go to the Coliseum when I lived and worked in London and I always felt that the audience there was made up of real opera lovers. Also been to the ROH 7-8 times which is always a treat. Those were the days (sigh).

Indeed...I am sighing with you ladyB !

I saw Big Lucy ( I am sure you know who I am talking about ! ) years ago,
in "Un ballo in maschera" with Deborah Voigt....what a night ! I was prepared for the beauty of his voice but not for the sheer size of it. I was up in the Amphitheatre at Covent Garden and I could hear every word, even above the orchestra. Voigt was good as well.

My best nights however, was the Ring Cycle in 1989-90. This was the famous Time Tunnel Ring, from Berlin :::

This is a new production, using the same sets. The immolation scene will remain with me for many years yet. Cast included John Tomlinson, James Morris, Rene Kollo and a wonderful Dame Gwyneth Jones. Here she is in another Ring, this time at Bayreuth many years earlier ::

My grandmother saw Birgit and all the other stars of the 50's and 60's, including Callas !

Hope this list isn't too long LadyB...thank goodness for YouTube !
