naomi - "Well, she has the justice she wanted – just let’s hope the life sentence he and his family have received sits comfortably with her. I wouldn’t want her mentality."
I have been accused of adopting a 'sackcloth and ashes' approach to the victim in this case - I feel that charge could equally be labelled at the criminal.
Most criminals' relatives are innocent of the crimes conducted by their family member - the responsibility for the fact that they become unwillingly involved lies fairly and squarely with the convicted criminal - as is the case here.
I don;t imagine that the distress caused to Mr Travis's family sits well with her at all - anymore than the distress caused to herself and her family in bringing the case sat well with her either.
She was assaulted, has sought redress, and obtained it by the law of the land.
I am sure she will sleep well eventually.
I would have her mentality any day - she has shown remarkable courage in the case of difficult circumstances, including, but limited to, additional insults and character slurs by her accuser.
I hope she serves as an example to all other assaulted women - that they have a voice, and justice can be obtained.
