No this remark was not made by Nigel Farage, but by Keith Vaz no less.

I wonder if we would have heard of such a thing if it hadn't been for UKIP bringing 'immigration' to the forefront?

Do we have an immigration system ? I thought it operated on the "wave thorough" principle. Well maybe non-EU citizens who come via the proper channels get asked a few questions first.
The NHS just got a bit busy that's all. I can't believe all the whining that's going on. Sometimes there's a queue at my local chip shop, it does not mean it's going down the pan though does it!

Have you posted ion the wrong thread TTT?

This one is about immigration not the NHS.
"I wonder if we would have heard of such a thing if it hadn't been for UKIP bringing 'immigration' to the forefront?"

Very possibly not, and in some sense that means that UKIP's done us all a favour.
>>>The NHS just got a bit busy that's all.

The quote was not about the NHS.

It was about our immigration system, COMPARING it to a hospital visit.

The quote is saying that our immigration system has gone past the "A&E" stage and is now in intensive care.

Nothing to do with the NHS
If you'll pardon the expression ,what has the queue at your local chippy got to do with the price of fish.
yes I think I did, apologies!

It happens.
This wouldn’t be the same Keith Vaz who was a member of the previous administration, would it?

The one, you remember, that launched the famed “e-Borders” project which was an unmitigated failure for everyone except the bosses and shareholders of the contracted companies that failed to come up with the goods. The same administration that searched the globe for immigrants for thirteen years in an effort (successful, for once) to completely alter the demographics of the UK forever. This is the same Keith Vaz who waited at Luton airport last January to welcome new arrivals from Romania and Bulgaria and who whisked a couple of them off for coffee (and a photo-shoot, natch).

Of course I forgot, Mr Vaz is now in opposition and so anything that happens on the current watch will be absolutely scandalous.
TTT,
This is a regular occurence where I work:

A bit busy? You don't know the half......
We were all gutted a few weeks back when a patient of ours had his op cancelled because there was no bed for him. He was a recently retired Consultant with 30+ years of service to the NHS.
It left a very sour taste in our mouths.
Sadly it seems a case of "Physician heal thy self "chill.
Makes me feel even luckier that I was dealt with quickly at our trust. Just beat meltdown as the man's party who was instrumental in causing it could later describe!!
Keith Vaz...oh the irony...you gotta luv it !
Blimey, Keith Vaz has some history (according to wiki). Another labour loony crook who needs to catch up
