The sad demise of a harmless British tradition, brought low by a phalanx of hairy feminists and liberal yoghurt knitters?

Or the welcome eradication of a blatantly sexist anachronism in what purports to be a family newspaper?

You might assume from my inclusion of the words 'phalanx', 'anachronism' and 'purports' in the above questions, that I am one of the aforementioned liberal yoghurt-knitter, but personally I don't have any strong feelings one way or the other about the future of Page Three...

...other than it might make room for more stories about Kim Kardashian...which I think we can all agree is a very bad thing indeed.

Your thoughts?

Wolfie...I am not sure if there is any valid reason to buy the Sun !

Mikey and I,I guess, are talking years ago when normal people didn't chase something to be offended about. Women ,in the factory I worked in as a young lad were quite happy to join in and promote the initiation ceremony of young apprentices. It involved debagging and the male genitalia being covered in a black tar like substance. No complaints ,prosecutions etc. The women were as bad as the men so I imagine women in the telephone exchange couldn't give a toss either.
retrocop I guess we just move in different circles. I suppose these factory women 'got them out' for the lads when asked? I'm not 'offended' by female nudity nor porn for that matter. People choose what they want to view and as long as its legal then I have no problem with that. Having nude females in a daily newspaper is well past its sell by date, either have no nudity or have 'the daily willy' -equal rights and all that.
Good riddence - I`m surprised it has lasted as long as it has. Regardless of whether or not it is outdated, I don`t think it ever had a place in a national newspaper.
Wolf63 "I don't think anyone actually buys the Sun or other such papers for the Page 3 type pictures - surely men aren't that gullible."

Hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha
Retrocop, I seem to recall when doing factory jobs as a student that it was the women who were so badly behaved towards the male workers, especially the young man. It seems acceptable for women to mock men in a sexual way but Lord help the men who do it, there was a Maltesers advert where a couple of office workers had nothing better to do than whip their tops up at a young, embarrassed looking man, had he drop his trousers at them there would have been an uproar. Feminism can be very hypocritical.
I expect to be able to read in a newspaper in any public place such as the bus, train or park bench.
I don't want to feel uncomfortable because the youngster sitting close by happens to see page 3.
There is a time and place and a daily newspaper isn't it.
woof - they didn't really take the bait. They are simple beings.
I don't have a problem with it. It's just a pair of boobs.
And do we conclude from some answers that we think people buy the Sun just to read the news??
Seems zero inkling that the mass conditioned titillation is to ensure urine poles into urine holes and all the mass control and profit associated.
zebo
Precisely. There were publications for women to buy if they so wished which had a large display of "beefcakes" displaying their crown jewels.
Look at hen nights when male strippers are on the programme. No one tell me that all women are shrinking violets!!

Outdated - the removal of it rather undermines the joke about which part of the UK reads what newspaper, I assume, most people know by now.

the Morning Star - folk who want the country run by another country
the Express - the country to be run by Farage's Freakish Fabricated Fakes
the Sun - don't care how the country is run as long as they have big boobs.
Wolf ;)
He said sex sells Divebuddy.
I recently felt the need to give my local Newsagent a good telling off.

I pointed out that he had made it almost impossible for young and impressionable lads to browse the girlie mags, as I had done 50 years ago, as he had put them up on the top shelf. To make matters worse, they now come in a frightful plastic envelope.

Its madness I tell you....sheer lunacy.
sevenOP (19:18)....can you have another go please, in English as we know it.
Mechanics all over the country may actually get on with their job.
