pop star JAMELIA, on the Loose Women panel today, said "You're not supposed to say Mixed Race anymore -the correct term is Dual Heritage". We're you aware of this?

the derogatory word for someone Polish is not Pole - period - it's 'Polack'

The question was I think clear enough for most to understand,

///PS, been meaning to ask for ages, is that a typo in your username,
should you have been anotheRoldgit ?///

If your answer to both parts was No, then you were obviously incorrect with your statement @ 12:15 today, your words not mine.
ooooo my dad was Welsh, my mother English, my grandmother was French and her parents Belgian ..and they are just the ones I know about .... does that make me of quadruple heritage???!!

/// -the correct term is Dual Heritage". We're you aware of this? ///

No I wasn't but i will enter it into my dictionary of offensive words volume 10.

I always thought that the correct term was 'half caste'.

/// Would you say I'm off to the Brits shop for a salad sandwich knowing the owner was British but you didn't know his name? ///

I wouldn't, but anyone is perfectly free to say that unlike that other word.

If the shop was the only shop that I knew that was owned by an English chap, amongst other shops owned by ethnic minorities, I would most likely say "I am off to the English shop", but if he happened to be Scottish then it might be "I am off to the Scots or Jock's shop" if he happened to be Welsh then it would be 'Taffy's' that would be of course if I did not know their names.
Wow, someone who takes longer than me to type.

Why pretend you don't know what is and isn't the accepted term AOG?
We have two shops on my street. We use the colour of their signs. We either go to the Blue shop or Green shop. How hard is that.

I prefer the Green shop :-)
mccfluff

Thank you for that mccfluff, it all must have been so horrible for you, no one has the right to be so racial abusive, but it is also not just one way, so everyone should not be tarred by the same brush even if some need to be tarred and feathered with a very large brush.
It costs nothing to say dual heritage, everyone getting frothy is doing exactly what they say they hate, getting worked up over small things.

If someone wants you to refer to them as dual heritage then just do it, it costs nothing does it?, pandering does not come into it.
It makes no sense, Randy
1. Property that is or can be inherited; an inheritance.
2. Something that is passed down from preceding generations; a tradition.
3. The status acquired by a person through birth; a birthright: a heritage of affluence and social position.
4. A domesticated animal or a crop of a traditional breed, usually not widely produced for commercial purposes.

/// Why not just say, "I am going to the corner shop"? ///

What if it happened not to be on the corner?

/// Or if the ethnicity of the shop-keeper is of vital importance, "I am going to the corner shop, the one run by the Pakistani family"? ///

Oh yes like we all read out such a full descriptive statement, as we dash out of the door?
White Cliffs of dover has just been re-named, those Hills overlooking the English Chanel, what the hell is the Stupid Country coming to.
why not just say "i'm going to the shop"

and you haven't answered my question AOG

/// ^ ^ I'm offended. DTC said red. ///

That is only offensive if you happen to be a red Indian, but not so if you happen to be a red head, or red faced.
AOG - You were the one who mentioned 'corner shop'.......do keep up!

Personally, I just say, "I'm popping to the shop." I'm not sure it needs anymore explanation than that.

TWR - Do try and contribute something sensible......or factual, at least.
those cliffs overlooking the English Chanel,

Shirley?
Plus Loose women, loose women, it is not newsnight.
ummmm, who do you prefer digging up your streets, the green Murphy or the grey Murphy?
Did Jamelia actually say she was offended?
