Is this just a matter of 'talking the talk' which most of us wish to hear, or are some of the government now actually beginning to finely 'smell the coffee'?
But apparently we have still a long way to go to convince others.
/// His intervention came after a UN envoy accused Britain of racism towards the ‘courageous’ migrants trying to cross the Channel from Calais. ///
/// François Crepeau, the UN’s special rapporteur on the human rights of migrants, compared their attempts to sneak into the UK to westerners taking a ‘vacation in Thailand’. ///
I was unaware that the Thailand authorities provided their tourists with free food and accommodation, spending money and free health care etc, etc, etc.

I have been thinking about the word "marauding."
Now, if i was standing at the entrance of the Channel Tunnel on the French side and 300-400, smelly, unwashed, charging African was coming towards me , shouting, screaming with arms waving, then the adjective .."Marauding" may seem appropriate.

Perhaps someone should buy you one Gromit:
From the Oxford Dictionary:
(a swarm/swarms of) A large number of people or things: a swarm of journalists
so that is fine
Marauding: Going about in search of things to steal or people to attack: marauding gangs of youths
Well as they are about the steal the UK's resources seems reasonable too.
Stop mit picking on phrases to avaoid the real problem. Your beloved EU is failing.

anotheoldgit: >> "sevenOP >/// So what 'talk' exactly aog, do "most of us" want to hear ? ///
"Engage your own brain, it is not difficult, or is it?"
Cop out of the first degree.
You are a classic example of the 'non-answerers' on this forum, the craven, hide-behind attack rhetoric.
If you mean "Marauding Migrants From Africa Threaten Our Standard Of Living." is the talk most of you want to hear, can you please confirm this ??
Your hubris is so blatant that you assert that view(maurading migrants) is what "most" people want to hear; you are not the first to boast such omniscience.
Your fellow slur mudslingers on this thread attempt to brand with imagined situations and presumed guilt, moral high ground pretenders who seem to relish stereotyping the less fortunate.
The Daily Mail article you link to is a deliberate blend of the mass immigration in Europe from Africa and the recent drama of the current Calais troubles, to deliberately incite mudslingers who fear their own pampered, selfish, high standard of living are threatened.
And 'marauding' does lower the political debate as it is a deliberate class slur.
Svejk.> "Instead of constantly knocking Aog, who voices the concerns many of us have, how about some constructive ideas. Or perhaps you're quite happy with this invasion "
He gets 'knocked' because he is one of the biggest fear mongers that posts here: when do you ever hear him post, especially thread starters, that are not negative, fear spreading, demonising tirades and never 'constructive ideas' or positive suggestions. Many like him only look at what can be done now and in the future and they reject any capacity to look back and try to fathom out how we are/got in this situation to aid calculating possible solutions e.g. the fact that aog's forefathers rapaciously ravaged the world is why he is in this well off standard of living situation and his own country has been key in bringing about the dire contemporary circumstances with immigration, is a by-product of that global rape and the policies in aog's own lifetime of his country aiding in the destruction of Iraq, Libya and Syria.
Blinkered, wilfully ignorant, self-centred, amoral self-protectionist are rarely positive.[ unless it is in their own interests.]

I can't claim to know AOG's ancestors personally, 7op, but I suspect, like most of ours, they were more ravaged than ravaging.
At the height of the British Empire, the average life expectancy for people in industrial towns was under 20. To suggest, now, as you seem to be, that their descendants somehow owe something to the world at large by way of atonement seems a tad unfair to me.
And, I'm sure you'd agree, it's always the poorest who pay the most. With immigration that would be downward pressure on pay, housing and services as used by the poor.
I thought that was what you were alluding to in your earlier post. That those that favour mass immigration are either unaffected by it or adding to their, already, considerable wealth through it.

Svejk, we discussed before how the past has affected where we are now;
it is likely no nation or culture has not had it harder in the past and some were more oppressed than others. One of the things 'Progress' is about is an improvement in conditions, by technology, education and other factors, but this 'progress' has *not improved conditions for everyone* to the same extent e.g. Third World compared to Western World. ( why is this mystery rarely discussed ?)
This appears* self evident but did not come about without various reasons.
Colonisation was one of those reasons. Military adventurism was another.
I am not responsible for the actions of my ancestors and feel no personal guilt for what other people do. That does not mean I feel the UK has no responsibility for what it has done, in my name and in my lifetime for example in Libya and Iraq. So it should be held accountable for atonement/reparations/restitution for the consequences of its action.
"And, I'm sure you'd agree, it's always the poorest who pay the most. "
- well don't be sure as I am not 'sure', but it should not be the case that they pay most, it should be pro rata.
