Is it a joke that 'they' want to impose Islam on this country - or do you find the idea that 'they' wish to do this?
For the record, Muslims do not wish to impose Islam on this country - extremist Muslims do, but they are a very small minority.

\\\\For the record, Muslims do not wish to impose Islam on this country - extremist Muslims do, but they are a very small minority.\\
mmmm! I wonder. Extremists want to do it by force, but Islamic pacifists would love to see an Islamic state in the UK, probably, by any means.
What evidence do i have?
Just a "gut feeling" to the spread of Islam in the UK over the past half century, from a standing start of a couple of thousand Muslims in the 50's to roughly 2 million Muslims some 60 years later.

I think the notion that Muslims wish to take over the West is a widely held belief - it is often a topic of hot debate on this Section.
But I wonder if it is a perception, rather than a fact?
I believe that it is a perception, and one that is developed and fed by the right-wing media in the UK, which is rapidly following its American counterpart in discovering that 'scaremongering' sells papers and develops talking points.
But that makes it a notion, rather than a fact - and apart from an acknowledged increase in population, I don't believe that the notion is really reflected in fact.
If you'd have told Americans at the turn of the nineteenth century that they were being 'taken over' by the vast swathes of Italian, or Irish, or Dutch immigrants flooding into their country, they might have wondered - but history shows us that such a 'takeover' never took place.
I believe that part of the issue stems from the fact that Muslims are far more easily identified here - their skin colour, language, dress code and customs make them stand apart from the indigenous population, but I do not believe that these differences indicate a desire to subjugate their adopted country.
But as I said - fear sells papers.

Just so you know what you are talking about - and not just regurgitating the pat phrases that people like George Bush used to trot out in a (failed) effort to sound like a caring human being.
