This use has also been criticized by influential Islamist Sayyid Qutb, who wrote:
'The defeatists should fear Allah lest they distort this religion and cause it to become weak on the basis of the claim that it is a religion of peace. Yes, it is the religion of peace but in the sense of saving all of mankind from worshiping anything other than Allah and submitting all of mankind to the rule of Allah'

Zacs-Master - "Andy, all I can see on your posts is a condemnation of other people's options with opinions of your own."
Then I suggest you read them more carefully.
There is no 'condemnation' in any of my posts - my two posts in response to Sqad were in agreement with his viewpoints.
"When Naomi asked for facts you hide behind a silly non committal response."
That was not a 'silly non-committal response' as you put it, it was a genuine response because I believe that Naomi was using a little sarcasm, which is fine, and I deflected it because I was using a figure of speech about 'the record' and not being factual.
If you don't appreciate my viewpoint, that is absolutely fine - but to suggest I am 'condemning' anyone's view because it is different from mine is simply not true.

Sqad....I am far from being a prude, but adultery hurts the innocent. I come from a "broken home" and it affected my family, especially my baby brother hugely. But my main point was to outline the essential nonsense of making this a Muslim affair.....all religions abhor what this chap has done
( who the hell is he anyway ....I have never heard of him ! )

Zacs-Master - "Looks a lot like condemnation to me old bean."
That's fine old bean - you are entitled to your perception, as we all are.
As long as you are not saying that you know better than me what I mean by what I say - but of course, you wouldn't do that - would you?
"And as for your further excuse on not answering Naomi's post that's just typical of your tiresome debating technique."
Oh ... perhaps you would.

To an extent I understand your position here and (partially) understand your position, but I think you may have chosen the wrong target and action.
Thanks for raising this interesting question, because up until I did a bit of research, I didn't know Islam's stance on children born out of wedlock.
Now I do:

I think what you're pointing to is something I like to call 'buffet faith' (following religious edicts that you can manage, or support certain bigoted views whilst ignoring others that would cause 'a kerfuffle').
Not sure (looking at the link above) that this is the case here.
