"400,000 Muslims wore the British Military Uniform and fought and died alongside British soldiers in the second world war. " Yes I’m sure you’re right, Retrochic. However, that was then and this is now. It would be very interesting to see how many Muslims currently resident in the UK would answer the call to arms if it were necessary. “Anyway -why on...
Absolutely agree that the very idea is abysmal but when you have seen an incident you may take measures (the only ones you have) to guard against a re-occurrence.
I hope the person involved in the previously witnessed incident was dealt with accordingly.
Mikey, I've been in the Forces, nearly 20 yrs as a Royal Marine, I've worked that Hospital as a Security Team Member, there are definite problems in the area. This was I'm sure a 'well meant' error by a member of staff, but to be fair if all our Foreign Friends were integrating in the way your 'Ideal World' suggests they are there would be no need for this thread.
It is just not happening, in Margate or anywhere else I can think of!
DIVEBUDDY there shouldn't be a need for HMF folk in uniform to be protected but the same can be said for the hospital staff too. Do you want the police to arrange for those who abuse staff to suffer unforeseen consequences?
I suggest that the real reason someone with an eye injury was offered a seat in a secluded area may be that it had subdued light more comfortable for damaged eyesight.
Then that bastion of truth The Daily Wail saw a chance to stir up some more controversy ?
DIVEBUDDY would you expect the numbers of security staff to be increased in the event of a person in uniform being admitted? As I understand it he was not telt to move, he was given the option and accepted it.
The hospital staff were thinking on their feet and trying to defuse any possibly difficult situations.
Eddie and others.......I think we may be getting closer to the truth here.
It wasn't some kind of deliberate slight by a staff member, but more of a misjudged way of protecting him from any potential harm.
And, if he might have been at risk from abuse because of his uniform, then that is obviously not acceptable.
We already have plenty of laws to protect people from attack, so I am not sure that we need another one. I have noticed that sometimes Firefighters get attacked when tackling fires, and even Paramedics get attacked at times as well.
