Sarcastic rudeness? Do get a grip...
Oh has he called for a lingerie advert to be withdrawn too?

Which one.

/// Both those gentlemen - by virtue of their religious status and position - can speak only from a religious point of view, and no other, whereas Mayor Khan speaks as the Mayor - and no religious input appears involved. ///

It won't be the first time that both these gentlemen have spoken out well beyond their religious point of view.

As for Mayor Khan, with him belonging to the Muslim faith, makes all the difference on the subject of females from a Mayor with no Islamic background.

So I repeat how does anyone apart from him knows that no religious input is involved?

Even yourself is careful to use the word 'appears'.
are the people who go on about people taking offence easily getting easily offended?

Lats night on ITV News at 10 a reporter had a folio of pictures from tfl advertising. He showed members of the public the pictures and asked if they were offended.
This link doesn't actually show the full picture (s). There were other pictures of stick thin models wearing summer flowery frocks. They stay apparently. Any other adverts displaying similar amounts of flesh found on a female on a beach in Torquay were a no no apparently. That included designer swimwear and some lingerie adverts. It as a little more than objecting to the advertising of slimming aids I believe.

Why would Khan's religious beliefs have a bearing on this?

Did you see my post regarding his voting record in Parliament?
I'm curious...does anyone really believe that Sadiq Khan's move is prompted by religious his religious convictions...and if so - why?

What information are you working on, and could you please share them with the rest of us.

/// All those adverts can adorn buses and tubes without using pictures which belong in lads mags. ///

Pictures which belong in lads mags eh, that is a little prude of you sp, a picture of a lady in a bikini is hardly lads mag material.

What have you got against the female form?
Thank you Svejk , so we have only been linked to an already slammed advert for a slimming pill and not the full issue?

I can't comment on the others till I have seen what Mr Khan has said re those.

I shall sweep up these wedges first then have visitors due, will research better when I have time.

Take far to much space up perhaps? :0)

sp; //Why do you think this ban is indicative of Khan's faith?//

I can't believe you don't know why. All Muslims believe that women should be covered from head to toe, it says so in the Koran, and if you do not obey the koran you cannot be a Muslim, simple. In Muslim countries. women get whipped for showing even too much of their faces.
It is sly and convenient to link this first step, to what I call 'the thin end of the wedge', to slimming products - which have nothing whatsoever to do with being the Mayor of London.
The model on the ad, by the way, isn't 'skinny', she is normal, I have two grown up daughters either of whom could replace her.
AOG, more likely the blogger wouldn't pay the amount of money.
//I'm curious...does anyone really believe that Sadiq Khan's move is prompted by religious his religious convictions...and if so - why? //

Before he was elected the media found a clip of alleged racism by him referring to other muslims as 'uncle Toms'.
Perhaps the label you and others assign him does not now sit well on his shoulders as a so called 'progressive muslim' and he wishes to quickly establish his credentials with the faith before he gets a fatwah on his head.
Good opportunity taken quickly in this fiasco.

/// Like I said....beachwear, underwear...fine. Not slimming products. ///

Not even Slimming World?
Slimming world is not slimming pills. It based on a healthy diet and exercise!

Perhaps this helps to explain matters?

Oh my I seriously cannot believe what I am reading!!

/// Slimming world is not slimming pills. It based on a healthy diet and exercise! ///

Oh now we are getting somewhere, nothing to do with slim women in their beach wear, you and Mayor Khan are more bothered about the advertising of slimming pills.
I still don’t understand why the mayor dealt with this himself rather than pass his concerns to the Advertising Standards Authority. Is it within his remit to decide which adverts are acceptable and which are not?

You better believe it, but if you are having trouble may I suggest a trip to Specsavers.
